How to…PPM runoff # in FFOF

I’m in 7 Gallon pots and Channel is about 90 days old. I have never fertilized so I am thinking that is the reason for the yellowing leaves?

I made a slurry with distilled and soil from plant (around top of roots - I didnt want to be invasive). PPM 70 7PH

Watered Channel 1 Gal Rainwater 433 PPM after adding nutes PH 6.5
Runoff 514 PPM
60 ish degrees 50% humidity in garage. Ideas?

I don’t do slurry but if you catch the runoff going out of the bottom during a plain 6.5 watering (not the initial leakage but after a bit) then use your tds/ph pens to measure ppm and ph of the soil.

Shes definitely hungry considering watering in upper 400s and runoff is not much higher. 90 days huh, surprised they did not show hungry sooner.

The tds of slurry is also really low because its on top of soil and plant used that up a ling time ago. Imo slurry test are better suited for a ph type test.

Replace the boards the pot is sitting on with a rack or closet shelve and let the runoff collect in the tray you already have.

I did the slurry test prior to watering very light plant. I knew she needed something, but figured I’d check here first. Of course then I didn’t, lol, and watered her anyway with 1/3 of FF nutes and then reported both PPM results before and after.

How do you raise the PPM’s in the correct way for the plant?

I think she was. I noticed her getting more lime green and now the yellow is showing up. She is beautiful and I’m about to flip. Should I wait til deficiencies are corrected before flipping?

It’s a work in progress. Hubby just made those for me so the drip trays collect water towards the front so I can measure the PPM easier. Will dripping on the wood first change the readings too much?

I don’t think so. Generally wood when constantly wet will mold. Also, roots will grow through the bottom if using fabric pots. Something like this is so much easier. Many will use coated closet racks (Closet Maid, Rubbermaid) and cut them to length.

Collecting and testing runoff is enough of a pain so I try to make it as easy as possible.

I’m concerned she is looking more yellow!

Not sure to trust PPM measurements now. I just bought it but I spilled the calibration liquid before verifying.

Rainwater has consistently measured 1, After I added nutes it was up to 433. Runoff was 514 day of watering. Today I actually ph’d and took its TDS again a few days later from tray and the PPM was up to 1027 and PH an orange yellow which looks to be about 5.5. Are PPM and/or PH stay stable or change over time with no additives?

I’m hoping to flip but just want to make sure they are both healthy - they have looked good all of this time and now I’m getting worried….:weary:
