@beardless I think I would have trained 1 or 2 to the center. But your way definitely allows good air circulation
The plant was just defoliated the day the photo was taken. Pretty much all secondary growth on the first 3 - 4 nodes have been removed. Once the ends are allowed to grow up more than out, it will fill in.
