Okay I got it now thank you! Hopefully I’ll have good luck on autos lol @GreenJewels @Not2SureYet also I got 2 seeds from a friend in the bud I got from him I happened to put them in water to germinate and both sprouted within couple days. Now how can I tell whether it’s going to male or female plant? And is it safe to put the seeds that sprouted to grow with my other feminized photo plants?
If they are autos. They should be feminized. I know there are non feminized out there. but they are not to common. if they are photos, I will recommend just growing them till you see if it shows male or female. If it is a male. just throw it away if you don’t want to breed. And you can put it with your others. just keep an eye one it once it is about 3 weeks old on to make sure it is not an un wanted male.
Okay thank you. I have marked the 2 plants. I don’t know if it is auto or what.
How will I know if the 2 random seeds are autos or feminized or regular seeds? 2 days ago I put them in soil and I just checked them few minutes ago and three already having small 3 leaves.
Unfortunately. Not till they get older. If it is an auto. it will start to flower when it is ready. You have to change a photo to 12/12 to flower. Autos can flower with any light schedule. for male vs female. You have to flip them to find out. Some flip them early to see. And if it is a female. Will change it back to veg till they want it to flower. If you were given the seeds and they didn’t tell you they were auto flowers. The odds are good they are photos.
Okay. I have my 600 watt light on them waiting for my GG to be done germinating so I can change too 1000 watt light. When you said flip lights is that regarding to see if its Male or female? If so, if it’s both females will I switch back to vegi light schedule? Also is 2000 watt led light with 1000 watt light together too much for a 4x4 tent?
I would recommend going to amazon and finding your lights. And see what the tru wattage is. It should be more in the 400 - 600 true watt range. That way you will know what you are really working with. the always advertise a lot higher than they really are. my guess is you will be in about the 700 - 800 real watts for the pair. but will be fine for your tent. I used a pair of 450s and a 600 in my 4x4. 670 true watts for all 3. Also, take a look and see what it shows for your light pattern in flower. That will let you know if it will cover the area. I really needed four of the 450s when I had those. I run QBs now. One panel of 4 lights covers a 24"x48" area very well. And at only 260w. So I get away with 130w per plant
Okay thank you. In my 4x4 tent I think for 4 plants one 1000watt light isn’t enough light for the 4 plants. I got both led and 1000 watt light on Amazon the led is a Vanderbilt one if those are any good. Also it has been about a week/week and a half in light this is what they look like now
@Not2SureYet The random seeds I had planted are in sohum soil that was used last grow. It’s doing pretty good. Tomorrow the random seeds are going under led light so the GG can have the bigger tent and bigger light to grow. I’m hoping these 2 plants are not males… for about 2 weeks they are thriving. 1 GG seed has poked out a small leaf but the other one hasn’t yet… I think I put them in pots kinda early or its a dud…
I have had seed normally poke their heads out later about 12 hours or so. I have also had a couple that were in no hurry and took close to 3 days. I just looked at it like, If they make it. Great. if not. i will be dropping another. For me, the few males I have gotten grew a lot faster and taller than the females. They want to get above the females for when they are ready to spill the pollen, Those 2 are looking great. keep doing what ever it is you are doing
The 1 GG seed that’s not poking its head up before I put it in soil the seed was cracked and saw very small sprout but it wasn’t like a sprout tail so I just put it in soil. So I dont if it gonna make it or not. If it doesn’t then I guess the 1 GG seed that’s poking its head out is have 4x4 tent all too itself with 1000 watt light lol Will I know if those 2 plants that are thriving will be male or female early vegi stage? Or in a few weeks? If they are males what can I do with them besides breeding?
I better re look. I was thinking these were autos. Sorry about that. Topping photos can be done earlier if wanted. I still do mine around the same time as the autos. I would give the questionable one a couple days still. I have had some crack. Show it self and take a day or so before it actually came out and started to grow. Autos will b females. photos will have to be changed to a 12/12 and go for a couple more weeks before they show you if they are male or female. I better get @Myfriendis410 in here to verify that. I normally grow just female plants from the start. Most that are not going to breed just toss the males in the trash and start a new plant. If you are not breeding. You don’t want to leave them around.
@Not2SureYet I had forgot to ask you. Is it better to use led light for flowering or 1000 watt HPS light? Also if I have vegi stage longer and flower stage longer will I get a better yield outcome? I have seen people have opinions about it but never answered my question.
Yeah I don’t know what kind of seeds these are lol so basically I do the same thing as I been doing with feminized seeds with the random ones and when it comes to switching light I will know immediately if there male or female? I was going to get the autos until the 2 random ones had sprouted. But still going to get autos eventually.
A longer veg time means a bigger plant. And bigger yield. A longer flower time just means more of a couch lock feeling. And from what I hear. To long starts to degrade the potency. I will have to let some one who know more on that give you a more knowledgeable answer. I have only used LED lights. So I use them for veg and flower. One set are 3500k and my other light is a 2700k that is mostly for flower. @dbrn32 is the best on here to ask light questions too.
Okay thank you. How long is the best time to leave it in vegitative stage? Like 4 months or longer? Also does autos produce seeds?
High end LED’s are turning out to be superior to anything else now. That said; HPS will do a fabulous job (as it always has) but a lot of waste heat. Some people in cold climates like that. So your environment might dictate what you use.
Bigger plants mean larger root mass so larger container and of course larger yields. If wanting to pursue the maximum possible, use female plants rather than feminized as they appear to be (in general) more vigorous plants. Longer flowering is dependent on the genetics and the environment but you can only maximize the potential.
A closed CO2 system with state of the art lights in a hydroponic setup would be the ne plus ultra.
Then again; commercial growers essentially do a big SOG grow. Clones from a mother, short veg time, manage for one main top and plant 8" or so apart in a 3 X 3 space and you have a lot of colas. Short veg time, right to flower with no seedling stage or wait for sexual maturity.
I veg for 7 weeks an fill a 2x4 screen in coco. I wouldn’t think you would need much more than 8 weeks for a single normal plant. if you want to fill the 4x4 with one plant. it will take longer. A general rule of thumb is. plan on the plant stretching 100 to 150% of the size you flip at. Does this sound right @Myfriendis410 I am just starting to get the hang of photos my self. I have grown mostly autos
Yeah where I’m at it’s really cold right now. Now with the normal seeds what chance will I get from either getting male or female? I normally use 5 gal buckets do you think I can get away with 4 month vegi stage with feminized seed? I want a bigger yield but dont want to hurt the roots. I have heard about co2 but was debating sometimes to try it out to see the outcome. If I do scrog and top plants is it overkill on 1 plant if I make more than 8 colas if it’s in 4x4 tent? The 2 random seeds are going to be under 2000 watt led light in 3x3 tent so if they are male then I can discard them easier and not mess with the other tent.
Meaning watch how big the 1 plant gets to determine to switch to flower stage? I’m hoping my other GG grows so I’ll have 2 plants in bigger tent.
