How much can you extend output wires of LED drivers?

My grow room is located outdoors.

I want to relocate the LED drivers to outside the tent.

I want to run the wires through the wall of my house to locate the drivers indoors.

This would require about 8-10 feet of extra wiring. (I’m extending the wires of the output from the driver.)

Originally the driver was attached to the light, so the original wires are only a few inches.

I have been running one of the lights with about 5-6 feet of extended wires for over 2 weeks (18 hours per day) with no issues.

Do you think extending the wires all the way to 8-10 feet is okay? Will it reduce current going to the light in any way?

Assuming my electric connections are all done correctly and safely and I use proper gauge wire,

Is specifically adding 8-10 feet of wire a safe idea?

I’ve seen others tag @dbrn32 for electric related questions.

Thank you🌲

It’s a Phlizon pl1000 (100w) and Vivosun vs1000 (100w)

If it was me i would extent the 110volts side power going to driver if posable

Do you know what the output voltage and current of your driver is? 8-10 feet isn’t far but I would consider increasing wire size a little to help combat voltage drop. Just make sure not to go so big the new wire won’t fit factory connectors.

That wouldn’t help me relocate the drivers

Is your extented wiring fill of the wires see if there getting hot if not should be good

Not sure what factory wiring is but 18awg copper should be more than enough.

Okay great, thank you! And you think 8-10 feet will not be an issue? Will it be any less efficient? The driver was originally attached to the light board so the original wiring was only like 4 inches.

Shouldn’t be any noticeable differences. I would expect maximum voltage drop of maybe 1 volt.

Okay thanks man, I was stressing about this for a while now, you cleared up everything for me.

It just seemed like a lot of extra wire to add before I got a professional opinion.
