How do these look? Virgin grower!

Howdy ALL! I germinated these two seeds in water for around 30 hours or so, then planted them in some soil I read about (don’t get me started on all there is to read about growing!!). Anyway, I have one plant in FoxFarms Ocean Forrest and the other in Happy Frog. I planted them on 9 July.
So, I water them when the soil is dry and just spray around the plant, not on it. I was reading about this and thought maybe it was a lighting issue but then I noticed that one plant has a brown leaf so now I’m not sure what to do. I do not have a blue light so maybe that’s what I should get?
I have a AC Infinity setup with the Controller 69 Pro. I’ve been running around 74/70. The temp/humidity has not got above 80 nor below 60. I have the circulating fan on 5-8 and the light was set to 5 and I had it raised up about 40 inches above the seedlings.
Now I lowered the light to about 6 inches above the plants and lowered it to 3. I’ll keep checking it and see what happens but I’m not sure that’s even the problem.
I just took these pics and each plant is 2" tall. Besides what appears to be stretch, I was also concerned about what appeared to be a brown leaf on the one plant. But after close examination, it is only the seed shell?
I was wondering just because I was unable to find a picture online of what my plant is looking like…if that makes sense. Well, besides the stretch part. I was able to find that right off the bat.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Tim

They’re looking healthy.

What kind of light are you using? 3" away is way to close for most lights. Usually lights are hung 18"+ during seedling stage.

As for watering it doesn’t look like you’re over doing it a whole lot. I over watered on my first grow and it’s very easy to do. I would cover them with a clear plastic dome and only mist the dome then put it back over. At that stage they actually take the moisture in through the leaves so the roots can grow. Looks like they can use a little dry spell. Once you start watering the soil use a shot glass. They don’t need much.

For a plant less than 10 days old its looking great!

What size container do you have them in now? If they stretch you can always fix that when transplanting or by topping off the soil a little later.

Thanks for answering and Whew! I have each plant in it’s own 5 gallon cloth bucket, that came with the tent kit I purchased. The light I have is a Samsung LM301B.
The soil is a little soggy and dark so I’m probably overwatering. I also failed to mention that I mixed in a measured amount of the granular Stage 2 Growtime Fertilizer, like an idiot! I’ve been watering with stage 2?? So I just noticed that and do not have a clue why I’d have done that but I did. So should I just go back to plain filtered water or should I mix in the stage ONE seed booster?

Not sure which nutrients you’re using but at this point ph’d water should be more than adequate. With them being in 5 gal bags you likely won’t need nutes until 4-5 weeks in with Ocean Forest and be sure to start light with the nitrogen. Ocean Forest can run a little hot.

Happy frog you’ll be good until about 4 weeks.

I would bring that light up higher even with LEDs 3" can cause heat stress or burn.

Do you have the photone app for measuring DLI/PPFD?

Heck, I’ve never even heard of DLI/PPFD so now this is something else to research! LOL! I’ll raise the light up to like 24 inches and put it on level 3 to keep the heat down. Then I’ll see how it does with the correct nutrients after a day or so. Thanks

Welcome to the rabbit hole my friend hahha. There’s a lot to learn, I have only been doing this for a few months and my head has been spinning since day 1 haha. It gets easier, try to focus on stages vs the overall grow at this point. Right now you are considered seedling and will be entering veg approx 2 weeks from when it poked through the soil.

The photone app is free and very helpful. Make sure you calibrate it to your manufacturers’ claims before using.

Here’s a starting point for recommended DLI. Over time you’ll learn your plant, when it needs water or not, more light, less light, nutes, no nutes, etc.

It takes time but looks like you’re off to a great start!

There’s a great bunch of people here who have been growing a lot longer than me, heck some since before I was born lol and they are very willing to share their knowledge. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else to learn to do this. You’re in good hands here. Good luck on the grow! I’ll try to help where I can.

Thanks! I’m reading about setting the phone up to my light so this should help out big time

Well, I’m still working on the light situation and tbh just trying not to kill these first two plants. The first one has stopped growing and is still where it was over 2 weeks ago. The other actually started growing pretty good but now appears to have burnt leaves? I’m going to research and try and find pictures of leaves like mine before I put any ILGM suppliments in the soil.
I check the soil twice daily for moister and water with tap water and 2-3 times a week I’ll water with Stage 2 Growtime Fertilizer (only on the growing plant).
I’m thinking the light might be causing the leaves to turn brown but that’s only a guess. I switched to a 12/12 schedule with the light at 8 and 40 inches above the grow. Temp/humidity is pretty consistent @ 70/65. I was running 70/70 up until a week ago.

Looks like you’re watering the leaves. That can cause burnt.

That water on the leaves is from the humidifier hose… when I opened the tent it dropped some water on top from the hose. I haven’t actually sprayed the leaves any yet.

That’s exactly what they should look like. Calm down, deep breath. Your crushing it.

It appears to be a phosphorus deficiency but I’ll let it sit for a couple of days and watch it. The only nutrients I have are the ones that came in the kit from ILGM. Thanks for the help!!

Quick update!! Week nine (since the seed broke ground) and I am wondering about the main stalk as it’s literally touching the light. Should I trim it or let it be?
Week 7 I trimmed the leaves so that the buds could get some light…probably trimmed off too many but I’m not sure. I’m sure I am a few weeks behind by the size of the buds but she looks very healthy otherwise.
I’m watering with ILGM Stage 3 Flowering Fertilizer.

What does it look like and what should I do about that main stalk?
Thanks!

I am looking at that 2nd and 3rd picture and that is wayyy too close! Holy shite! Give it some height. You can go about a foot to 18" or even 24" and adjust the dimmer to average out the PPFD/DLI to 35-55 for that plant.
Get rid of that scrog net. Its in the wrong place anyhow and your going to need to be able to move the plant.
DONT TRIM NOTHING!!!

I have the light as high as it can go…it’s up against the carbon filter. Should I try and reposition the filter so I can lift the light up another 12 inches or so?

Yes sir, raise that light and dont trim anything or you will lose over half your harvest!
Its flowering now. Its too late for any training. Its done developed. Triming anything now would be like performing a prefrontal labotomy on it…
