How do I use this 100% coco

So I was just in my local Dollar tree and seen these blocks of cocoa and picked one up. I never grew in Cocoa before but I have been curious about trying it but need to learn more about it. But first off I’m wondering how many of these blocks do I need for a decent plant? Like how many of these blocks would it take for a 3 gallon container? And does coco go in regular containers or only cocoa containers? Someone please fill me in on this

Too many. Your better off buying a block on Amazon. I use Coco Bliss. It’s like $20 and will expand to like 20 gallons. Those little bricks only expand to like a quart.

Fabric pots. Best for aeration and drainage. Coco has to be fed, not watered but fed, daily to run off.

Check out cocoforcannabis dot com. It is a very reputable reference site.

All solid stuff. I haven’t grown for over a year, but my next grow will be in coco and I’ve never grown in coco. It will be fun. I may grow next summer. I don’t have any trips planned and humidity is much easier to manage in the midwest summers. I’ll probably do concentrates for edibles. I need to figure out how to do dosing properly.

No advice but 4x3g is 12qt and 12÷2 is 6 pkg

Boooooy oh boy are you in for a treat!!! I mean, end results aren’t totally different. But the difference in rate of growth. Incredible. I know you do one or very few plants, so hopefully you can find individual self watering bases. I can’t recommend them enough for coco in fabric. Any self watering system for coco really since it’s just constant feeding basically.

@Borderryan22 don’t people mix it with ffof? I currently grow nffof, tell me about the deal with mixing it

Seed starter coco probably is milled to a smaller kernel which means it’s fine for starts but would not do well through an entire grow. It will likely compact over time; causing you trouble.

Coco/perlite is what you want and you can get it pre-washed and bagged.

You can mix with FFOF but would end up with FFHF.

@Myfriendis410 why would that make it happy frogwhy would that make it happy frog

For me, the end result is definitely different from coco compared to soil and organics. Coco was fast, but soil and organics tasted alot better.

Is that moldy at the top? Or what is that blueish green? Coco bliss on Amazon is your friend and cheap.

Hey @Jayjay504 something extra to make the soil loamy. High- peat moss soils can hold too much water and get muddy. Coco adds some nice texture. So some peat-based soils have a little coco. And some soil mix like FF coco loco depends more on coco. But its still soil mix

@Jayjay504 if your going to grow in coco i would suggest getting a top of the line ph meter a must my friend happy growing

@Truetopath damn I didn’t even notice that moldy looking stuff, I’m a check it out when I get home but I see what you’re talking about in the picture

FFOF with added coco IS FFHF.

@Myfriendis410 I thought Happy frog was just a weaker ffof. So what is Coco loco then??

Exactly!

Coco Loco is a coco product with very modest amounts of NPK. Not enough to rely on growing a plant in. You have to supplement if using.

Coco Loco is a hybrid. Soil and Coco Coir, about a 50/50 mix.

@Myfriendis410 see I’m trying to see if I was to just mix the ffof with the cocoa if it would stop me from having to feed Coco the way that you do. The reason being I don’t have any veg nutes, just tiger bloom for flower and I veg in ffof. And I’ve been wanting to see what Coco was all about so wondering if I was to mix the cocoa with the ffof if I would be able to get away without feeding because of the newts in the ffof

The short answer is ‘no’. If you don’t want to supplement, stay with the OF but plan on flowering nutes.
