How do I make my portable ac exhaust stick to the wall

Okay so I thought I had it figured out on how to vent this exhaust from the portable AC. I went to home Depot and bought the exhaust duct, and used duct tape to attach it to the back of the AC, then I cut a hole in the wall the same size and I lined the duct up to it and put a bunch of duct tape on the wall side as well. It was working for a couple of hours and then I just happened to go check my gauges a couple hours after lights out and noticed my temperature was up to 80 so when I went in there and looked at it it blew apart from both sides, the AC and the wall. So the girls are sleeping right now and I hate that I Disturbed them the little bit I did but I just unplugged it for the night, it’s not a big deal I have Central AC in there already and my house stays around 70 but I really do want to get this figured out, so I’m hoping somebody can tell me an easy way to make this hold in place.

Just buy a flange, which will attach to the wall and has a nipple for the exhaust hose to hook to. Amazon has them or you can get them at a hardware store. Your ac is like mine, it’s a 5 inch hose.

@Growdoc what do you mean a flange? I just went today and bought this exhaust duct. I seen an adapter that was right next to it and I seen a window kit. See my duct tape was so hot and I think that’s part of the reason why it came loose. But the crazy thing is it came loose from the wall and the AC and I had a bunch of tape around both. I thought the duck I bought was just supposed to go over the exhaust on the AC the duck I bought was just supposed to go over the exhaust on the AC

If you’re forcing air into a closed section of wall it will want to blow back off again. If there’s no exit for all of the air your pushing into the wall cavity your going to have another bigger issue with the unit also.

I see 2 options Grow Bro, if that wall is an interior conditioned wall I would use an inline duct fan to bring the cooler temps in and an inline duct fan to exhaust to the outside. 2) You need to vent the AC to an exterior wall and can use a typical dryer vent/cap :love_you_gesture:

@OGIncognito yeah I was thinking the same thing about getting a dryer vent cap and venting it outside but that would be so much work. My attic is above the grow room but the hose I bought yesterday isn’t long enough. When I ended up doing was turning the AC to where the hose is not on a band and it seemed to hold throughout the night

I’m not sure if exiting into the walls is a good idea. I would exit not the window like the post above or just continue cutting and exit outside.
