How will I know when to switch over to veg stage and when do I start feeding nutes im growing 2 feminized blue haze photo period first grow ever and new to all of this any tips would be greatly appreciated
I consider when the first 5 finger leaves appear to be in veg.
10 days from sprout.
What do you mean by switch? Lighting intensity?
I start feeding at 10 days. I use fox farms soils and fox farms nutrients and follow the soil feeding chart. I feed at 25% though and stick with 25% until the end.
@TheVirginiaLawyer To soon that soil has enough nutrients to last a few weeks without transplanting… save nutrients and let the soil feed the plant
5gal pots are 3-4 weeks and still havent given nutrients since i up-pot…this week i will start
Agree I wouldn’t start now from what I’ve learned off “YouTube university” is at least not until further along just wasn’t sure exactly how long I should wait I’m also doing the fox farm trio plus the cal mag and using happy frog soil
Yes and also by the chart I’m following that’s when I will start introducing nutes
Just be sure to check the ppms as you go along. I was just going off the charts too and missed the timing by a week when they actually needed to be fed.
Cut with 25% perlite and starting at 25% strength you can get away adding nutes early sometimes. Its not a rule set in stone that you cant feed early on. Especially if only giving the trio. Take calmag for example, its got an npk value N(2-4) P(0) K(0) I use RO so I give it every time liquid is involved. You will find alot of advice about not feeding for 6 weeks in OF but its just that, advice. Often given to a first timer, in effort to ensure they get through to harvest without messed up plants. Nutes are used to push the plant to its fullest genetic potential. Some risk pays off. Sometimes Topping will stunt your auto, other times it will give you a beautiful even canopies.
I will say that there is a less risky way to push your seedlings and that is fungal/bacterial innoculation.
After the 4th node.
Last year we started giving them fox farms just after a few days first timers and had 4 plants that damn ne’er it growled through the top of the tent! our timer screwed up the plants! The plants didn’t do much for a while and they finally straighted up and I ask on here said stay the rest of time 18-6 till harvest time and that was wrong! Because if we didn’t do 12-12 for a couple of days we wouldn’t had nothing on it! Thanks
I’m following a super helpful chart I found on YouTube “cheat sheet” for photo period plants grown in happy frog soil and it does change light schedule/intensity as well as humidity and amount of nutes as plant matures but since this is my very first grow it’s still hard to tell exactly how it should look when it’s considered veg stage etc… so y’all are super helpful for any doubts that might come up
The first few weeks of the Fox Farms feeding schedule is a pretty mild dose of fertilizer. I have not had any issues starting at day 10.
Well it depends if they are photo or auto. All plants are seedlings and treated as such until they are 2 to 3 weeks old. I transplant as fast as I can into there permeant grow pots. At transplant they are in veg. If auto’s they are in flower when I see the very first pistols. For photos they are in flower when I flip the lights to 12/12.
I dont know when one stage becomes the other but I’m ok not knowing, here’s my photos at 19 days old. Enough roots (fluke) but nowhere near bunged up.
So I can set my auto plants in the sun during the day for so many days and not in my tent?
And not on a timer?
I didn’t say that or infer it at all. Do as you like but I never move plants from indoor to outdoor, never! Or from grow lights to indoor lighting?
