Last night before midnight…I recoded the Dry Charter for use without Anychart and using Room database for storing information saved within the app by the user…rather than a system embedded text file…more stable.
Then…I started on the Vpd Calculator annnd heatmap chart…I must test both today and bug…but before midnight yesterday I:
Created the Hortus PPM & pH tracking app with new line charts.
Redid the Hortus Dry Charting to not use anychart.
Redid the Hortus Vpd/heatmap charting no AnyChart.
Annnd
Created a yolov8-style Ai object detection training suite.
The last one might not seem like anything…until you search for a free tool to train Ai for object detection.
There just isn’t any at all…the ones out there…charge to make money off your idea…then attach themselves to your project like a lamprey eel sucking all of your well earned money.
I just wanted to take my pictures:
Label the images for object detection…check there is apps available for free.
Make into the proper structure for training…check.
Do initial training…check.
Do fine-tuning…check.
Do image augmentation on dataset…check
Test and validation…check.
And finally exporting to a tflite file for use in an android app(this file IS the Ai apps engine…persay)…Check!
It holds your hand from start to finish!
Free for the world once I thoroughly test and debug it.
I truly hope to help as many people have a better choice for free.
Today…my plan is to recreate the DLI calculator and charting…that will be the last of Anychart in my app.
I have until April 2026 to cancel and not renew Anychart…plenty of time!
Yes…the plan is to migrate your old data and settings to this upgrade… it’s happened in the past…during Hortus Notes upgrades…but you don’t notice…which is the point.
Talked with the wife today…after I eliminate costs from the app…not including website and domain…
I am either going to reduce the app price to $1.99 or something…maybe free in hopes people will “donate to the cause” using a donate button…either way…my expenses go down so should my apps price.
Just make sure you’re not cutting yourself out of all the things you have to maintain and constantly stay up to date with. I think a few dollars in more than reasonable for the amount of work you are putting into this.
