High humidity in grow tent, even with dehumidifier in lung room

OK, I’m going to order a window kit and try venting the tent exhaust out thew window.

50 pint minimum, emptied daily or drain pump capable.
$330.00, now, but 8 years running.

Cardboard and tape to test it my save ya some cash. (I’m poor so I try everything I can before I spend) :astonished:

The media 50 pint with pump is on sale for $198 at walmart online… I think. I just paid $239 a month ago.

I have the Media it seems to be working good, others have recommended the Hisense, but I have no experience with it.

My 22 pint GE dehumidifies my whole house but it’s only 1600 sq ft. It brings the house down to 40-45 % setting it accordingly.

I’m actually quite satisfied with the humidity in the lung room - 40-45% most of the time - with the 20-pint humidifier set at a target of 35% RH, so it runs continuously. The problem is the humidity in the tent, usually 55-58, sometimes 60. I would like to keep it below 55, and preferably below 50.

I’m going to try venting out the window, instead of back into the lung room, as some of you have suggested. Right now I have a carbon filter and 6" exhaust fan inside the tent, like this:

To vent out the window, I would need a 180-degree bend in the ducting as it leaves the top of the tent (the window is to the left, in the diagram above), and another 90-degree bend at the window - which is not ideal, as the bends will reduce the air flow.

So I’m wondering if I can leave out the carbon filter, and put the fan outside the tent, sitting on top. This way there would be one 90 degree bend in the duct from the tent port to the fan, and another 90 degree bend at the window. The lack of a filter would also increase air flow. I’m not too worried about the smell outside, as the window is behind some large shrubs and about 20-25 feet from the nearest sidewalk.

Only thing carbon filter is for is smell when they start Budding and giving you that nice aroma!

My filters and fans are on the outside of tents.

A 3x3 is pretty small area for 3 plants. With your plant transpiration, pumping water into the tents atmosphere the lung room needs to be 10 - 15 below the goal in the tent. At least that’s what I’ve found for mine.

I have my dehumidifiers set to continuous operation and lung room runs 30 - 35, tent between 40 -48, usually around 45.

You are correct about the bends in the duct, but that 6" fan will exhaust a 3x3 with ease. I would minimize bends as much as I could, but balance out how much effort vs functionality.

BTW: In my post above I posted some dehumidifier links if you decide you need one. (both under $200) But you may not once you vent out of the room. :man_shrugging:t4:

I have a GOOD floor fan that I evacuate the grow room with. I dont have my windows open because in this state its worry about what your neighbors doing instead of your own business. But it does the trick, along with a huge room dehumidifier.

You can always use an AC unit.

My set up is like the pic but no carbon filter and I vent out the side not the top.
