Further to @Viktor7’s post, if you’re just doing a single plant then all you need for the first 2 weeks is a single, deglobed, 14-15, or higher if you want, watt 6500K led replacement bulb. That’ll give you a lovely, squat, wide, wee beastie, I always end up with them being a foot wide and 4-6" tall under that single bulb, see the “20 days in April” and my “How many ways to kill a plant” journal and you’ll see what I mean. Rig things up right and you can start a new plant when you’re around 2 weeks away from harvesting one, you don’t need much space, just a sq ft or so, so you have a new one ready to move under the grow light when it’s harvest time.
Oh, sod it, this is what I mean about the LED replacement. Northern Lights Auto, 2 weeks old, before I broke her.
Have other pics of other plants under the same bulb, all do the same. Save yourself some electricity, for all you need in the first two weeks is a LED replacement lightbulb.

Well, there you have it. You’ll have more help than you’ll know what to do with…and that’s a good thing.

That is a nice sized plant for 2 weeks old. Mine are wide at 2 weeks but not like that. I may have to try one of those bulbs now

Photo or auto, they all come up like that.
Be careful with the height of the lamp, you want more stretch than that thing had because that one came out “squint” and there wasn’t enough space under the lower leaves to pile up more dirt to support the stem and broke her putting tension on while I staked her. With the next one, I kept the lamp a little further away and ended up with the same sort of growth, just an inch or two taller from the start, stayed pretty much on a 2:1 height:width growth until she moved into flower.
One per plant, or the equivalent of, that’s all you need, think I started off at an indicated 13k lux, then let it grow a little before keeping it at around 30k. Go above there, and you can drop 60k lux with one of these bulbs without burning the plant but there’s basically no vertical growth, your stretch cuts back a lot and you can’t even see the “grow bud” in the middle of the plant.
Let me put it this way. First I tried a “30w” blurple, and I found out why they were so cheap. I’m crippled but even I’m more useful than these things, and then I saw THAT bulb in the local DIY store (expensive here, but “free” thanks to what we call ecocheques) I just had to have it. So the globe came off, and I tried it with my next plant and the nicest description was “holy sh**, I gotta lift thing up a bit” as the plant just went horizontal, If I left things the way they were you would have been able to rest a full pint on it. 2 weeks later I had my cheap LED panel made so that one went under the panel and turned into a 3’ tree in a 1 gallon pot before I drowned her.
Lesson learned there, and next three plants have all shown the same explosive growth in width, but at a healthy stretch when you find the sweet spot for that specific plant, using that same bulb. Thinking next time to add in an 18w 2750K deglobed replacement just to see what happens re: width and stretch, just for the hell of it.

Thanks, I am going to get one to try, I was shocked at how big the hard water plant got for only a week old. I have to grab a few things from the hardware store. I am adding one of these bulbs to the list now

Hmmmn… I see we have figured out an ancient Chinese secret. "Rise with the dawn & slowly strengthen your tactics(in this case THC) to be a supreme being
I’m confused Now? Does my plant look good as a week old seedling? Do I need to raise or lower my lamp? I took the led lights off right away like I was told for the first 2 weeks.
I am going to say it is ok. My last AK47 came up similar size for week one. This one I am doing now is a lot bigger than the first. Both grew into nice plants. You can see the difference. I am sure yours will grow into a great plant as well
This is my first AK
And this is the AK I am doing now. Both a week old…
Dang, what’s the difference? Mine is like your top pic. I notice the top pic is way longer, but less leaves. The bottom has more leaves and closer to the ground.
Week 2 pic, Happy Birthday!

I am not sure why one is bigger than the other. If you saw the GS I am starting for a friend. You would really wonder why some grow faster than others. Mine seem to start taking off after the 3rd week. They go from small to medium fast. After that, they seem to just keep on growing.
I don’t grow in soil but that looks pretty dry. What light did you decide to grow this under right now. I know you have the LED for later.
I’m doing just a single bulb, I forget what it’s called. Also, I had just added a little soil before this pic. I’ve been watering very conservatively twice a day. I hear most people over water.
2 weeks and 4 days. She is really starting to take off! Is it time to transplant to the big pot? Is it time for the led lights?

I agree, And she i starting to look petty nice there. Well done
She has been transplanted. I hope i was gentle enough. She looked so big in the styrophome cup, and now she looks so tiny in the big pot. I gave a good amount of water for the move since the big pot was so dry. Do you guys think I should move the led lights down?

No, she looks good. Leave the lights for now, you can start lowering them a little bit after a few days to give her time to recover.
Good job. Did she have a nice rootball?
She did. But as I peeled the styrophome cup away the dirt split in half and exposed everything way more than I would have liked. There was one really long root that I gently tucked in the bottom. I hope she will be okay. I’m super paranoid that she is messed up, but i think she is just fine.
