Help high ph of run off

Yes i will definitely work on a more robust schedule as for the most part im all over the place. Been working on the drench to drought method but i guess my drench aint denchy enough lol. The feel heavy but normal 2 days later they are light and i can pull back top layer of soil and it dry underneath

I get run off but i think its not the run off we are looking for , i think its just what runs out the sides of put i never get water coming from cent of bag. Just the edges. Or a quarter of the way through bottom if that makes sense.

It’s all learning lessons my friend. Small yields nasty flavor all the negative things you’re referring to will change as you learn.

I noticed you got colas bent over hitting the floor (wheat branches not supporting buds)

You should start using silica this really strengthens the stems and branches. You will not have Bud colas falling over anymore. There’s a brand that I use it’s very cheap and very very good called Bloom City. (You can get it on Amazon for cheap)

Contradiction. Above or below, two opposite outcomes.
Below from internet.

"Dolomite lime is added to raise the pH between 5.5 to 6.5 which is ideal for plants. Generally, it takes 4 tablespoons of lime for 1 square foot. This dose increases the soil pH by two points. So, if the pH of the soil was 5, by adding four tablespoons, it can increase to 7. Add dolomite to Neutralize acidity.

I wonder if it works for a 1-cuft (3-5gal soil).

Good catch on the lime. Yet I’ve never seen anyone say that lime brought their pH issues to order. If you come through the threads it seems not to work very well. Therefore I never did it and found it much easier and faster to simply reset the soil

@Lostgirl: I Agree with you on ā€œlime resultsā€ forum postings.

In my first (2022) grow I had PH pen failure and FFOF PH (low) issues, as well, at the same time. No fun.
The referenced internet paragraph included (first time I have seen) the specific comment about one TBS (tablespoon) of lime for a sq ft (defined amount of product added to soil for specified change of PH). Not one cup for 100 sq ft.
I have been adding lime to my mixed soils, Probably too much.
Not sure if it helped or not, either.
Latest soil mix includes FFOF, dolomite, NEEM, Light warrior seedling starter.

I don’t have a current grow. On my last grow I got a hold of an expired bag of Happy frog soil that also had the low dipping pH problem. I considered the lime treatment then after further investigations I saw that it was only a 30% chance that it would even work and it would take several weeks to even find out.

At that point, I simply flushed all the pre-charged soil and took over the grow with advanced nutrients pH perfect and never had a single issue again.

I agree with you it’s both aggravating and frustrating dealing with a swinging pH.

I fixed the cheap PH pen issue with an Apera 20 (with the Apera 60EZ as back-up, just in case the disaster of dropping-things strikes again).

The outdoor (too early) crew.

This is hands down the very best pen that I’ve ever owned. The accuracy is incredible. By far the best $15 I’ve ever spent. I bought two backups over a year ago and my original pen is still going strong

@Lostgirl so i did try to reset soil on one of the girls , didnt go very well at all around the 9th gallon of water ph down to 5.6 i still couldnt get ph below 7.9 i ended up trash the plant which sucks but its definitely a lesson learned. I may just scrap all of them and start over. At this point i believe its pointless to try to save this mess.

I’ve never seen anything like that. 9 gallons and only came down 0.01 I’m lost.

Me too lol, i order a new pen i did start to notice major variations toward end.

Ill keep the 2 maui wowie they seem ok. Ill scap the 2 z skittles and hopefully can get the super skunks back on track.

It’s got to be the pen. It would virtually be impossible to run 9 gallons of water through a 5 gallon bag and the pH not move at all. Do you have a friend nearby with a pen?

Do you have a single calibration packet left?

If so, mix the calibration pack (single) as directed. Let’s say it’s a 4.0 pack. Don’t calibrate your meter just simply put your meter in there and see if it reads exactly 4.0

Unfortunately no friends locally that grow.and im out of solution hell i probably didnt even calibrate it right from the start. But new pen will be in Tuesday. Ill do a water on the other plants and see what i come up with. Im getting very discouraged after alomt 2 years and im still growing trash. Lol i need a mentor   :joy:

I 100% guarantee it’s got to be the pen. There’s absolutely no way you can run that much water through a plant pH’ed at 6.5 and run off a 7.9 it’s virtually impossible.

What I would do if any of the girls need water between now and Tuesday simply give them water (gassed-off if you have to)

This will keep them wet anyway.

What do you mean by the plant is trashed. You only poured water through it it should not destroy the plant.
