Help! Failing at home grow

You can also mound up some soil around that stem.

@The_Angry_Elf hey man! I don’t know anything about the pot for pot package, but what light do you have? Your light definitely seems to be an issue.

Next time try going with my earlier recommendation because it’s a lot easier to judge if you need to water. Does that kit come with nutrients?

Bottled works fine but you should think about getting a pH meter and some pH Up and down. 6.5 is optimal for soil. As @TEGRITY stated.

Update on this.
I’m happy to say, shes back standing up on her own and growing her 3rd set of leafs. I added more soil around the base and have been keeping a close eye on watering. I may finally have something going here for once. I cant thank you all enough. Rookie mistakes, but im learning from them.

Hoping I can soon be self providing in as buying from local shops is getting very expensive and my condition is getting worse. More frequent severe headaches which the doc says is a sign the tumor may be growing. Can’t afford an MRI yet, even with ins.
Anyways, let’s think positively, I’ll get thru it. Again, thank you!

Hey friend. I would look at something like these for the next seedling you start (I wouldn’t buy that exact set because the 100 of the smaller size are too small and useless. But I love the 100 larger sized ones).

You can just water thoroughly. They breathe enough and dry out fast enough that you don’t have to worry about spritzing or syringes, just water them in. (Pour water on little bag of dirt until water runs out the bottom). Plant seed a day or two later. Do NOTHING for a week. Water to runoff again. Do nothing for a week. Stick the little bag of dirt with roots coming out of the bottom into the pot of dirt where it will finish out it’s life. At this two week point you should have a healthy little plant with 4-6 sets of leaves that is hardy and hard to kill. If you need advice on cheap suitable dirt…I grow in this. Available at walmart for cheap. I have 18 happy seedlings growing in it right now.

What are you using to light this 24 x 24 space?

Heck its still small and early id rip it out of the pot and rip the jiffy pellet net so the roots will grow better then transplant it deeper leaving an inch or 2 of stem showing only. Seriously need to think about a new light tho. That has massive stretch for being a foot away

Welcome this is a very helpful place! I’m still new here so I won’t chime in too much as I will mostly follow along.

The stretching is definitely a light issue as others have pointed out. Dbrn commented on lights and he is the one everyone goes to and calls the light guru.

As for lights I have the HLG 135 r spec. Good for both vegetative and flowering. Would be a pretty good light for a 2x2 area.

I’ve heard decent stuff about the Mars hydro lights. Never tried personally.

Amazon is a cheap place but not usually a good source for grow lights as the standard isn’t very clear. They use tricks to claim a light is better than it actually is. If there is a place to spend money it’s on your light.

That being said if using tap water that may be another issue. You can get distilled water for roughly $1 a gallon. You can do that until you can afford a ph meter. I’m told get what you can afford as the ph meters on Amazon seem to last a few weeks unless you spend $50 or so.

Hope this helps. Plenty of good advice on this site. Good luck and happy growing!

Well it’s been a while since I posted here. She’s being harvested tomorrow! Not as big as I had hoped but considering the mistakes I made, itll do for a first plant. 2nd is already to transplant into a bigger pot.

I also got a much better light and boy, what a difference it made.
