Hello! Newbie here! Why is my "plant" doing this?

Hello everyone! First time grow, at 59 yrs. young. Starting very small, simple and cheap. Beans from some bag a few years back, so no idea what I have. Doing Fox Farms Happy Frog, and LOW level Fox Farms nutes. Got the water PH levels about 6.5. Been very careful not to over do the water, drainage is good.Using Viparspectra 300w LED, started at 24 inches when it was about 3 inches high. Gradually lowered over course of 2 weeks to 18 inches or so. 18/6 schedule. Thought it was going great, but, last 2 days had this develop. Looks great in morning, all day, but late evening I get this stem ā€˜droopā€™. All day long stems and leaves high and proud, but about 3 or 4 hours before end of 18 hrs of lite on, I get this droop. What am i doing wrong? Anything to be concerned about? See pics.

@AxisBoldAsLove is that the recommended distance for the lights? That seems a bit close for a plant that young? Iā€™d go back up to the 24

drooping leaves are usually a sign of over or under watering. But generally I think she is telling you she is getting too hot orā€¦

Recommended height for manufacturer for Viparspectra 300w LED is 24 inches. But, I see quite a few people suggesting lower distances. Moved light down gradually and saw no obvious negative effects.

Try raising the light up I think that might be what it is.
I currently have some young plants around the same size as yours and noticed the same thing happening to mine. Iā€™m using T5 lights and keep them very close. 1 of my lights is brighter than the other and noticed when it was under the more powerful light that it would start dropping towards the end of the light cycle. I moved that plant under the less powerful light and no longer had the droop.
Iā€™ve since raised the more powerful light and have not seen the drop since.
Would be a good place to start anyway.

Thanks bob31 and JMesser80! I will try raising the lights. Found so much conflicting info. Some said 24 to 30 inches, some said as low as 12 inches, with that same model lite, vegetative state, same age. Guess it really is trial and error until you find what works best. Thanks again!

You simply have to find what works and learn how to read your plants. Which in a way you did. So bravo for paying attention and you will be able to use that info in subsequent grows.

Iā€™m learning that all kinds of weird crap happens all the time.

I know i should have waited for the Support Ticket but iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s what i posted below

Over watering

Over watering is one of the biggest mistakes new growers make, reason for this is, because they feel the need to give there plant everything and will overdue a lot of things and one of them is over watering. By over watering your plant you soak the roots so much, they canā€™t get enough oxygen and slowly die. The plant shows signs of over watering by: Wilting, droopy look, yellow and or dead leaves falling off, which includes leaves that donā€™t look dead falling off. One of the best ways to tell how NOT to over water is by, picking up the pot when it is dry and then picking up the pot after you water. (This is a reason why itā€™s smart to use light pots.) When you water, you want to water just enough to where you see a bit of water coming out of the bottom, not gushing or pouring out. Just enough to see a little bit, then you know the plant has enough water. To prevent over watering you can either: add more perlite to your soil, add hydrogen peroxide to your water for extra oxygen, all the while killing bacteria if any in the soil. After watering, wait a few days to water. Mj plants like a good watering and then a couple days to dry out in between watering. So itā€™s very easy to over water. Besides the weight of the pot, another way to test if your plant needs water is to stick your index finger a couple inches into the soil. If the soil at the tip of your finger feels almost dry, then itā€™s time to water again. The top of the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings if itā€™s still moist the plant does NOT need watered. You can also use a moisture meter which will tell you the level of moisture down in the soil. You can buy them at most garden supplies or hydro shops.
