@Northerlit @Budbrother just to say great conversation / exchange and finding the information - well informative and usable as I am mixing up another batch of soil but am out of worm poo.
Any thoughts of using actual wood ash as a K source? It’s good for calcium too. Soil PH impact?
I can’t add all the organic stuff it talks about on the chart because it will clog my autopots
I plan on using the info on the chart, then by following your advise, my 13.5 hours of daylight is August 20, so I’ll start feeding them the fish bone, and langbanite the first week of of August. I am planning on topping two, maybe three times and lollipoping a bit. But that’s a horse of a different color.
Cheers Bud, I really appreciate you and your time.
I have zero knowledge on that, this is my first organic grow. I’m sure someone will respond to you shortly.
How did you end up feeding while in flower, liquid nutes?
They only list 3 ingredients. The squid concentrate, fish bone meal or Stonington blend fertilizer. Really it leave you with only 2, since you choose either squid or fish.
Just remove the squid from the equation by choosing the fish bone instead. At any time, you could add the fish and/or their fert to your pots as a top dressing without clogging.
This said, you know how ya rock your pots, and I wouldn’t change my grow for an unknown. It may be worth an experiment though.
You mean putting a layer of crushed stone or perlite in the bottom inch-ish of your pot?
This season is new territory for me, I’ve never used soil for any of my grows. Always promix and liquid nutes till this year. So any and all knowledge I will soak up.
To add to my above post I’ll also be using the silica and epsom salt you recommend. I watered today with the salt.
I was on the phone talking while typing, but then it passed the edit time allowed
No, he knows how to rock his pots, means he’s a kick ass grower; and he rocks!
I got ya lol
Can I ask you about hardening off?
I’ve been putting mine out, started at 2hrs went 4 then all day in a spot that gets mostly shade with breaks of sun. I was going to put them out Tuesday for good but I’m forecasted for 8 consecutive days of rain showers and cloudy sky’s. Would you just put them out or keep nursing them under a T5?
@Budbrother , why no squid concentrate?? Just curious. I am doing a 6 plant grow all in 50 gallon pots, 3 with Stonington Blend, 3 with Fox Farm Ocean Blend…a Pepsi Coke challenge if you will😂
CoM is trying to sell their particular products. They provide you with a liquid or a solid option for you to use. Not saying anything’s wrong with using squid concentrate. I just have never use it before, but I use fish bone meal all the time; so I’m familiar with it. I won’t recommend stuff I’ve never used myself and have no personal knowledge.
Id leave them outside to continue. Vegging plants aren’t gonna have any issues with the rain and overcast conditions. Even when it’s overcast outside, UV rays still penetrates the clouds
Good, cause I have them out & they’re staying out. Just moving them around so they’re not in the direct sun for to long.
I don’t use wood ash in my soil mixes. It does provide some soluble nutrients, but it’s alkaline, raising the ph of the soil. That’s the opposite of what you want to do when growing cannabis.
Id put them somewhere where they receive five or six hours of direct morning sunlight and are shaded the rest of the day.
That’s what I figured. I’ll keep adding it to my oak leaf garden compost pile. In the fall the pile is 10’x20’x12+". I just ran the rototiller through the pile. Looking good. thanks for the reply.
@Budbrother
Things have been moving along nicely, just wanted to throw you an update. I topped them and cleaned up the bottom 8 days ago, no apparent stress.
It’s been hot as shit up here the past week, temps in the low to mid 90’s. Before the heat came I gave them a nice drink with seaweed/kelp extract. Today I gave them a nice drink with
Anyway plants are looking good, have a bit of stretch going but I’m sure it’ll even put as they get bushy from topping.
Huge fan leaves lol. Have a good one, and thanks again for the advice.
Looking good there.
I use Big 6 From BaS. It’s from the creator of TM-7 but has no added iron since most soils have an abundance in the soil already.
Yeah maybe I should look at that, my water has elevated iron levels already so maybe that’s a better route.
