Can anyone tell me what this is and how to control it.
It appears to be bud rot. I have thankfully avoided that over the years but I’m indoor. @Myfriendis410 do you agree? Or could it be something else?
It’s rot of some kind. I would bag it before I cut it down and get it out of there before it starts on the rest
To late its already done that, lost a few nice buds. Want to find out how to combat for next season.
I have heard it might be stem canker, just searching for more info.
thanks for the replies fella’s.
Good luck, keep us posted on what it is and how you get on.
Damage to the stem at some point caused stem rot. Bummer.
That’s definitely botrytis (aka bud root) , sorry friend. It’s airborne so if you have other plants in the area they will likely be affected. Any tools you used to trim or anything need to be washed and cleaned. If you have fruit trees or wild berries out there they can pretty much be factories for grey mold in the right humidity. The spores can lay dormant in dry conditions an can reappear so even that container should be soaked in a cap of bleach. I’ve try to fight it by cutting the rot away but that stuff literally shows up over night once it’s established.
