Well, i harvested my first grow last night. My 19 week old Northern Lights autos were not progressing past a few random ambers.
I finally realized their problem was me.
7 weeks ago they reached full height and had small buds that werent getting much bigger. I figured they were nearly done.
I thought it would be smart to defoliate 100% of the fan leaves. A few seasoned growers advised they needed more light and time.
I moved them into a 4x4 tent with 200wts of light. Theyve had 750wts for 6 weeks. They buds got a little bigger, but eventually all the sugar leaves got crispy.
The buds are still super sticky.
Last night i chopped 'em, washed them in the 3 bucket method. Lemon/baking soda, H2O2, and then water.
I know you are supposed to hang the whole plants, or at least the branches, but i didnt have a good spot to do so, so i snipped the buds, and put them in a tiered mesh bag, with a fan blowing through it on low. Aso wraped it loosely in black plastic to give it some privacy.
Im going to give them a couple days and see if you can do everything wrong, and still have something worth keeping.
One of the plants was a twin from a single seed. It had strong ruderalis traits. The buds were smal, loose, and fluffy. Its twin looked as it should.
You grew, you harvested, you are drying and curing… That sounds like success to me! Congrats on your grow. It’s a learning experience every time you grow. That’s how we get better. Best of luck.
I miss read your post, so sorry. You can flower on 10/14. The problem with 10/14 is that you are giving up two crucial hours of full light. The additional dark time doesn’t make them flower more.
