Harvest time yet

Fan leaves have no value. Cut as many away before drying if you are tight on space. like I am.

I will most likely have to change my dry tent to my 2-n-1 and use the current dry tent as overflow. The current tent is just not big enough. I have another 48x24x72 to replace the 2-n-1 for growing.

I can’t thank you enough for the advice. I would be lost without this help. How long are you letting them dry? Going on vacay in a couple of weeks so i either start this tomorrow or wait till i get back

Morning @cwo. It’s not so much how long, as much as when they are ready.

I would recommend purchasing a meter to test them
Many of us use these types of meters to tell if the bud is ready to cure.

You want to use the wood setting and get a reading between 10.5-12%. That equates to around 58-62% RH.
Or you can use the branch snap method. When the branch snaps, not bends, it’s dry.

Good morning! Thanks for this info!

Got the meter, going to hang stuff next week…

Nice! I just pulled all mine down and trimmed it. Ended up with 6.5 oz of prime bud and 4.7 oz of trimmings or extracts.

Outstanding! What do you do with the trimmings?

Trimmings get used for making bubble hash or an extract. I’ll most likely start with bubble hash as it is the cheapest. The trimmings contain the flarf as well. The little buds from the bottom of the plant.

I’m going to get a translation app… Haha

Oh, what can you tell me about Groves bags?

Buy some. They are great for curing and long-term storage. I use larger 4 oz and up for l curing and long-term storage and the 1 oz bags for daily smoke.

When testing your bud with the meter, you may have to gently squeeze the bud between your fingers where you insert the meter to make sure you have good contact for it to test. Otherwise you’ll get a Too Low reading.

10.5-12 is where you want to be on your meter. Then trim and bag in Grove Bags or jars and burp them. No need to burp your Grove Bags though. So they say. I still do for the first 4-5 days. I make sure any unwanteds are allowed to escape.

I’m in central Texas and I am going to have a hard time getting the tent below 75 degrees F. I have a Spider Farmer 4’x2’ SF2000 kit. How important is it to keep the temp down when drying? I have several weeks to go yet before I do any chopping. My thought is to run a portable swamp cooler with a dehumidifier in the tent and see if I can keep the RH around 60% and the temps down. I’m hoping we get a break from this frikin heat!

Thank you. Should I call you Sensei Jim?

Welcome to the forum @BjornYesterday .

My dry tent runs about 75-78°F and 58-64% RH. My drying times have all taken 5 days to reach 11% on the wood meter. With the exception of the first dry. It took two days and cost me 22g. Dried it WAY TOO fast.

This is my first grow ever, so I am scared I’m going to screw up on the last lap! The environmental RH varies from 70% in the morning to 30% in the afternoons when it hits 105 degrees. During flowering, I’m keeping the grow tent temp in the 70’s and the RH around 50% using a dehumidifier in the tent. My tent is in a small office space that is cooled by a window unit set at 70. My ladies look really good. I have some weeks to go before I harvest. Hopefully, the weather will mellow out by then. It has been triple-digits since June.

Happy Birthday JW

Thanks B. 55 today

Use the same methods you have been with flowering. Just try to keep the humidity a little higher.

Happy B Day. Only 55, shiiiit you gotta lot of miles ahead. May they all be happy healthy ones. :+1:
