I just chopped and hung 4 plants, didn’t do any trimming, so i have some dead fan leaves still in there, i have buds touching other buds, branches touching each other, got air movement in tent need advice on whether im creating environment for mold?
The fan leaves will come off easier now than in a couple days. Once they dry out a little they will become stringy and when you pull them they will have a fiber that runs up the stem and sometimes pull off buds. You can of course cut them instead of pulling at that point. I find it easy to yank off the fan leaves right after chopping as they will snap off easily right at the point they are attached to the stem.
I’ll be 70 in a month, after taking out the light, removing a couple fans, chopping down plants and vacuuming out tent, i just didn’t have the energy to start cleaning plants a bit and taking off leaves, ive got to start cleaning saucers, risers, toss my fabric pots( easier to buy new than clean old) find a safe spot for light will be using again in a few weeks.
I usually don’t have quite as many fan leaves left on mine when I harverst but I hang em just like you are. I keep my temp as near 60 F and rH as near 60% as I can with a small fan on low facing the wall underneath so they lightly sway. So far so good, no mold.
Sweet looking harvest!!! Good lucK.
I did the same thing on my last harvest. I Just cut and hung the whole thing. And didn’t have any issues with mold or pests. My personal opinion is as long as you have adequate air circulation in your drying area you should be fine.
I’m also trying to decide if I want to stick with this method or take off all the excess leaves next harvest😂. Let’s see what other people’s suggestions will be!
You mentioned you had a full day of cannabis chores and I get it but I do a preliminary trim before I hang. I also do not trim the same depending on the time of the year. In the winter, since the heater is on and sucking the moisture out of the house, I do exactly what you have done here and leave on fans and hang plant, but in the summer when my swamp is on and the house is always 50% or more on humidity, I then take off most of the fans and cut branches instead of whole plant hang.
Im going to take each one down this afternoon and at least clean up some of the dry shriveled dead leaves and some yellow ones on inner part of plants
Short bud inspections? Look for mold or rot.
Did you wash before hang?
I barely had the energy to wash myself after the hang.
