Oh yeah!!! I’m on the side of the pond where the deer and the antelope graze. Seldom is heard a discouraging word. Pretty much stay drunk all day. Lol …my alibi
Starting with a new 5 gallon fabric pot. Filled with Ocean Forest /perlite mix to about an inch from the top. Picked up and dropped the pot from 2 or 3 inches a couple time to get the soil to settle a little. Added about 4 or 5 cups more soil mix to top it off and sprayed 16 oz RO water on the top.
All of this is done to avoid having 4 gallons of soil in a 5 gallon pot. The soil will settle alot if you don’t give it a little nudge. You’ll end up with exposed roots and plants falling over… don’t go crazy though…just enough to settle the dirt a little! You don’t want to compact it. 20210820_103743|375x500
I was expecting a heated seed starting mat for this grow but that fell through. No worries. Just shows you don’t need fancy stuff that costs $$$. An unused upstairs bebroom closet. I closed the vents to the room. 76 farenheit and climbing!
To be honest I’ve had 92% germination rate without caring about heat mats with an ambient room temp of 70°-74°
Now at the beginning of the season when I’m prepping 300-400 plants that go outside I use heat mats. Germ rate around 98%
So is it necessary? Probably not.
Yep, on the top near the back of the fridge in a shot glass has worked every time for me so far. 24 hours, if it has sunk or sinks with a gentle tap it gets planted.
Also haven’t worried about darkness since they come out of the water before I see a tail anyway.
