Hi there. I have read a little about the change during the flowering process and it seems there is a likelihood the plants could grow twice as big and wide
mine are outdoors. has anybody found this to be the case.
i toipped my plants and tied down the two new colas as i dont want them to be visible from the street.
is there anything i can do to keep the plants private whilst not affecting yield too much. space is clearly an issue as you can see from my pictures.
i dont want to hurt the plants but i cant have huge trees that people can see from the street either
yep. The stretch is absolutely real. Every time.
To keep them smaller you will have to bend the branches down. Start now while they are less rigid. Might have to supercrop. Supercropping actually almost breaks the branch but the plant will recover from it and stay shorter.
hi yes. ive bent the top branches down and tied them. im guessing they will still grow a lot but outwards yes?
i will read about supercropping. thank you
The plant will do everything it can to straighten up and grow tall.
You have to work on it every day during the stretch to keep it under control.
I have bent branches and seen the end turn back upwards in an hour or two.
Even if you bend a branch by super cropping, which mashes and nearly breaks the stem, it will straighten up again over time if not tied down. Cannabis is a very hardy plant.
Cannabis is capable of flowering with as much as 14 hours of light per day. Growers use 12/12 to guarantee flowering. Every plant is individual, results may vary. lol.
Hmm beers in a weed aroma jungle…I’m in.
Seriously though, 1. Grow indica plants (shorter, bushier)
2. Actually you should “hurt” the plant just enough to course the kind of stress that increases potency and yield. This takes some experience but as @Spiney_norman + @MidwestGuy have indicated, the weed will stretch till you do something about it. Fear not. Even if you do go too far, that’s why God made duct tape! Also you can make wire bendy clips, or purchase some.” The stretch” should be fun.
Supercropping is pretty easy. It can be scary the first time you do it as you feel as if you are murdering your plant. Select where you want to bend a stem, bruise it thoroughly by squeezing the stem until it crushes a bit. This softens the stem up so that you can bend the stem without snapping it. Bend the stem down and tie it down. As @Spiney_norman said above, the plant will do everything it can to straighten back out and reach for the sky, so it’s wise to train it to stay down.
@robnic here is another way to go. These are made of copper wire that I have a spool laying around. You can do it with any semi-stiff wire, even coated romex wire perhaps. I squeeze, pinch and bend, then carefully apply the clip.
