Growing outdoors in Fl is not easy

This the 3rd yr growing outside in Fl and no matter if its a auto or photo or bag seeds they all are start to flower around week 5.

This Pineapple crunch (photo) started out really nice and I was getting ready to clip the top and noticed pistols starting at 5 weeks. It stopped growing and this is what it looks like so far. The buds have started at the nodes. It’s only 7" tall and it’s only going to be one bud. That’s a first. It smells really good at least.

Next up is Triple G Auto. Looks about right for the time period. 5 weeks.

Last is Bubba Kush photo. Just put it in the air pot today 5-2-24. If it follows suite it should show pistols in a week or so but it really shouldn’t.
I been considering getting a light and veg them inside so I can at least get some height of them before they start to turn. And then put em outside to bud and get the inevitable bud rot that this weather here is great for. Anyone else have these problems growing outside in Fl?
I’ll add more as the weeks go by.

Florida is really hard to grow outdoor mainly depending where you’re at. My area it’s almost impossible due to the high steady heat. And no cold. And humidity stays to high. I’m in Florida. I’m turning my spare bedroom into a a grow area. But I been taking my plant inside and outside. Still on time schedule. She’s been liking it

Half the plants I see in Florida that are outside you get to rarely see there full potential.

That’s the conclusion I’ve come too. I’m hoping the air pots painted white might help keep the soil a little cooler but I can’t figure out why there all starting to flower at 5 weeks. I do have some landscape lights. Maybe that’s the culprit.

Yes. Also need longer duration of light. 18 on - 6 off. Probably get away with 16-8 but can do a 20-4. But yes. Light cycle is key. But also the color of the sun for what the plants transpire. Tones we can’t see is also a factor. Landscape light might work. Im still new. But yes you should move your grow indoor Can be closet. Garage. But supplemental lights are the key
Cause you need the light cycle. I maybe get 9-12 hours of steady sunlight where I’m at outside. So I move plant inside for the rest of the hours it needs to complete. But when I get ready to flower I will hopefully have my room somewhat ready. Because outside in Florida is to harsh. Indoors will be great

That’s about what I’m gettin. I’m between Sarasota & Ft Myers. So I think Auto’s would be the better choice for outdoors then. This will be my last summer in Fl and I’ll probably go indoors after I relocate.

Here’s an update on 2 plants currently goin on. About 9 days since last post on these 2. Triple G and Bubba Kush. So far so good. No visible problems as of yet.

Triple G 9 days later

Bubba Kush

Bubba Kush 9 days later

Hopefully they’ll continue doing good despite the hot weather that is just about here. Happy growing folks… :sunglasses:

I hear you on the heat South Carolina is not far away the heat last year was brutal on my plant’s the Top Colas took a scorching then bugs and high humidity created problems also so I selected Haze and Plants that I can possibly grow better here I think some of these hybrids can’t take the element I used to grow plant’s that would wilt in the heat and little water 30 minutes later they were kicking

I grew White Widow-Purple Haze-Northern Lights and now these 2 strains. They all fought the heat pretty good but Bud Rot is guaranteed with this unbearable humidity down here. I’m sure you got the humidity issues too. Good luck with your grow. :+1:

I can Truthfully say when I first started growing you didn’t know what a feminized seed was you grew from the seedy bags of weed and had to separate male plants , never heard of Bud Rot that was some tuff weed

Either did I. That was back in the late 70"s. Quite a Few times I waited to long to throw out the males. Even though the girls got pregnant it was still a nice buzz.

I never knew anything about that either. I never got it up in Pa. though.
Maybe all this genetic manipulation is turning them into a bunch of pussies, lol.
I got this Earth Alley spray to see if that helps with the rot.

Picked it up at Lowes. I’ll start spraying before the rot sets in and see how it does. It’s a learning experience for us all.
I guess you can say: Nip it in the Bud…
Best of luck gro-bro :+1:

Well there’s been a lot of growth in the past few weeks for Bubba kush and Triple G Auto. I did use DynoMyco on these grows and maybe thats the difference. Also have giving them Boogie Brew and Pure Protein (made from cod fish hydrolysate) this is some stinky shit, once a week and also we haven’t had a drop of rain in the past 2 months. With temps near 100 everyday watering is a daily thing.
I should be cutting the Triple G in a couple of weeks. I just may escape the bud rot on that one since the buds have been dry so far. :crossed_fingers:

Look above on May 11 at the growth for 3 weeks on both of these.

Hope everyones grow is going good this year. :sunglasses:

I would bet the reason your having problems with early flowering is because your putting them out to early in the year. If you go outside much before the middle of May you would need to augment light a couple hours a night to give them enough light to prevent flowering. Getting strains that are acclimated to high heat and humidity would also be very helpful. I suffer from high heat and low humidity in my area. I always do better with steppe strains like afgani or some kushes.

Thanks, Sorta makes sense. That happened with two PP and at the end of the month I planted a Triple G auto and being it is a auto it flowered anyway regardless of the light. Now at the beginning of April I planted Bubba kush and it’s doing fine. Next year I will try the light indoors and let them veg for a month or so and see what happens. I thought that since the days were getting longer in Mar that wouldn’t be a problem.

The equinox is around the 20th of March. That means that the day and night are equal 12/12. The longest day of the year is around 20th of June at about 15 hr of day and 9 hr of night. They equal out again around the 20th of Sept. Dec 20th would be the shortest

Going to be putting this one inside in my diy grow box to avoid the dreaded bud rot. She’s a little over 11 weeks, a photo. She’s startin to smell, I think it’ll be a good one. It ought to be ready in a month and a half or so .
