i’ve read that if temperatures drop below 60 degrees the plants will become stressed and therefore reduce the yield. I’m growing in my basement and my lights off temperature is about 57 degrees F. How much will this effect them? Also there is no big temperature fluctuation down there between day/night so changing the lights to being on at night wouldn’t help. I don’t really want to use an electric space heater for safety/energy usage reasons. i was thinking about getting a ceramic heat emitter, like ones used for reptile basking. They do not put off any light and would raise the temps to a safer level. Thanks for your help!
Its best to keep your temps about 80 F give or take 1 or 2 degrees and its good to have about a 15 degree difference with lights off. mine drop to 62-63 F when lights out and 81 F with lights on and they are ok. just try keep temps in that range and you will do good
I too run basement location and my basement is cold. In my tent the temps range widely from 64 in dark to 84 in light humidity ranges are wide as well but I have control over humidity. Right now I keep humidity sky high around 66 to 86% RH. My plants are all in veg. I control humidity by opening and closing certain flaps on my tent. I also do not run my fans yet. I have a total of 4 fans. 2 intake 2 circulating. My air filter is also off. When I switch on all equip the humidity plummeted to a mere 32% excellent for flower but I’m not there yet. Good luck and I hope you understand you don’t need a lot just the right mix.
not much.!
60+ is ideal, 50+ is okay, below 50 and they slow down, below 33 and the start to die.
idk what those r, but…
if your lights on temps r decent, 70-80, then u can use heat mats under the pots, this will raise the root temp and get growth back to maximum.!
usually don’t even need a thermostat, just the mats, they only draw a few watts each (~7’ish…???)
I’ve actually grown clones that were kept over winter in 55 degree temps. so the stuff is tough. There is zero growth at these temps. They just stay alive.
Please help!! Germinated seeds via paper towel method, planted in 5 gal pot of coco/perilite. On day 5 and one seedling sprouted and turned right back down into the soil. Maybe had my led light too close? Just raised it up as high as I could. This is my first grow so it’s all a learning curve! Thanks for your help. I also think I may have planted the seeds too deep, should that be an issue?
sounds like your day time temps sucked also.!!
55 is not bad if they get 75 for 12+ hrs each day,
but with 55 lights off and 60 on, they r not going to grow much, if any at all.!
nice to have the basement to over-winter plants even if they didn’t grow much.!
Believe me they still turn out just fine when returned to normal environment. Average plant for me is 4’ . They seem more robust when handled this way should you be unfortunate or brave enough to sprout seeds in winter months
Hey everyone, I’m a basement grower and I have tried so much stuff to keep everything under control. I’ve spent alot of money and returned alot of stuff and now I think I have it figured out please people help with your input about my set ups…
Veg tent temps are 66°and 48% humidity… now this is only when I have my second light on in my bag tent and it’s usually on for two hours and off for two hours all day untill there sleep time. I do have lights on at 12 p.m. and lights off at 6a.m. this is to try and keep the temp up during the night. I need to work on this tent more with proper ventilation and stuff but im on a budget and can’t get stuff right now for it but soon. I’ll take pics of my veg tent but will have to update later when my flower tent turns on at 6p.m. that’s when I’ll give you info on that one. Also my strains are from seed in the veg tent and all varied and not sexed out yet. I only have one small fan and the main light is a agrobrite t5 2ft fixture with 4,000 lumens. The other light is a full spectrum blurple 1500w idk wall wattage but yeah it’s a work in process but here are some pics
There is 14 haha but they are getting so big. I love it. I don’t really care that the cold is causing them to not grow as fast but I got 4 in my flower tent that I’m focused on. The veg tent is only a 3x3x7 also. I am starting to see on two of them that the lowest set of leaves are turning yellow. I just got my ph meter and red meter today. I def need help with reading those things. Maybe you could help viktor7 or you can steer me in the right direction. Thanks have a good one.
You’re in dirt so it’s not so hard. Just worry about what you feed them water ph 6.2-6.7 the ppm thing doesn’t come into play really unless you really want to get scientific. Measures soluble nutrient to water ratio. Experts and the book says a lot. I say as long as PH is within range and you use organic you’re okay. If you’re pumping some type of fertilizer then you have to flood your plants to get a washout and you would measure the water that comes out. If the Ppm are over 1100 you need to flush. If under 600 you can add more or feed longer.
I’m not a big fan of meters but I will use mine with this grow. During they are super responsive during flower so you have to feed sparingly to establish what plants can handle.
Once they get a certain size it takes a lot to “kill” them
I do everything some people say not to do. I water every 2days I feed 3 times weekly. Use hot water and the plants have outgrown their little 3 gal pots but I’m not moving so they will be root bound at 3ft. I’m cool with that as long as I can get 3’x3’. KISS method is critical I had to learn to leave them alone
