It would cool better if the space the box is in is air conditioned. The temperature the hot side of the plate is exposed to determines the temperature difference between hot/cold sides, thus dictating lowest box temp possible. Cascading the ones used for cooling is one option if the ambient is too high. The plate used for dehumidification will add the same heat regardless of it operating independent or along with the cooler plates. From what I understand they’re best controlled with PWM to limit output and efficiency loss.
Room is at 68. It gets cold in basement when upstairs is set to 76.
What pwm only meaning i know is powdery white mildew.
The same heat but when it reaches say 68 degrees the dehumidifier won’t be able to run till temp gets down to say 64 making the dry time longer.
The wine fridge in that room will get to 52 I think it is without the dehumidifiers. I tested it when I first got it and it got as cold as the gage would allow.
My other thoughts are on airflow but airflow also dries faster.
It’s all about the balance of temp and humidity for the correct VPD, that’s what allows the buds to dry evenly without over drying the outside of buds. Mabey I just got lucky but using separate controllers, I can keep mine dead on. 68 degrees and 62 humidity for dry and 66 and 60 for cure.
PWM pulse width modulation, it’s a form of capacity control . It is incorporated in a devices controller to increase capacity with load but can have an upper limit to reduce waste heat that’s disapated when full power is applied.
Without having to buy other parts try this… Use the cooler plates on either a need for cooling or dehumidification and run the other when temp gets to low.
Thats what I thought I would be doing hooking the inkbirds together would do. The cooler has its own thermostat so it will run independently of the inkbird temp controller and the dehumidifiers would only run at low temps then shut off at higher temps allowing the cooler to again run independently till temp was to cool and then dehumidifiers would come on again.
This would allow wine cooler to control cooling and dehumidification unless it gets to cold. Don’t want it to take to long to dry. I need to find that balance.
I do think canatrols 4 day drying and 4 day cure is to fast.
I go for around 56 to 58 percent on the cure. 60 and 62 I feel is to moist. When smoking a joint it shouldn’t go out and have to be relit and we don’t pass everyone gets there own. Lots of weed. I do roll them on the smaller side though about half the size of a cigarette.
Didn’t meen to get into that. Back to the cooler. I do think the 2 different controllers will accomplish what you said.
Ok I shut off both dehumidifiers last night and let the cooler get cold again. Humidity went up to 75% temp in the cooler was 66f. At 3 oclock this morning I plugged in the temp controller set at 65f with a 3 degree difference on the heat side. Humidity controller is set to 62%. Wine cooler temp is set at 64f.
This is turning the dehumidifiers on at 65f and shutting them off at 68f. When humidity gets to 62 percent the dehumidifiers won’t turn on even when the temp controller tells it to because the humidity controller is plugged into temp controller and dehumidifiers are plugged into humidity controller that is set at 62%.
At this point it is dripping watet out the bottom/back of wine cooler. Will leave it alone now for a couple days and see what happens.
I at least know I won’t be hitting that 72 degree temp anymore.
Question that only time will tell is How long will it take to get humidity to 62%. I’m actually not looking for 4 days more like 10 would be nice. That is on a fresh run which I won’t have for around 8 to 10 weeks.
Current run has been in there I about 8 days but is not a true test with all the tweeking I have been doing.

How are all doing
Doing well. Restarted our business so concentrating there. Ty for asking. Hope you are well.
Doing well here, weather been nuts and now it’s close to 100f, just plugging along at work mainly then the July 4th week 9 days ta gone, hope all’s well in your world.
Doing good Brother, glad your getting the machine figured out, mabey I just got lucky with mine. I put some top buds in it yesterday and it was 70 degrees at 78 humidity, this morning it’s on 68 degrees and 65 humidity, water tray overflowing! I’ll rig a catch tray under the water pan to catch overflow, although it only does it first day or two.
Ya I think I’m getting there.
Won’t have any fresh bud to put in for a while. Wifes cat ate 4 white truffles seedlings I started for the grow off. So I’m out of that. My fault I didn’t shut the door to the room and I learned a long time ago cat loves pot seedlings. These make around 20 seedlings she’s eaten over the years from the same thing NOT CLOSING THE DOOR. Sorry had to yell at myself for a minute.
I’m going to start some girlscout cookies extreme photoperiod in their place.
Not good news there… Let’s grow on..
Soaking seeds now.
If you run short, just let me know!
