I give simple answers and direct the OP to the mag glass at the top. There is so much info here all you have to do is search. I also link a thread I know has good info related to the question asked.
I think it boils down to independent and dependent personalities. Some people, like myself, will research whatever and then if after much research I do not find my answer, I use real world experience from others.
Others just feel the need to ask. I don’t know if reading is a thing anymore in schools. Critical thinking is another lost art IMO.

Yup this is the heart of it IMO…
It’s like when my kid comes to me and says “dad i want to play basketball…i need a new pair of shoes, a ball, and a hoop in the driveway”.
Well if my kid has never shown any interest or put any previous effort into basketball, I’m not gonna jump and drive to the store or invest the time and money to erect a hoop in the driveway…
If my kid was dribbling the ball around the driveway, hooping on the daily with his friends…you know…putting in a little effort…then boom I’m game to help him in any way possible!
Same goes (for me) in this arena. If someone doesn’t know what ph or a grow medium is then we can’t have a productive conversation no matter how you slice it. I’ve also spent countless time and money and learned many things the hard expensive way…happy to share lessons learned but not with the person who’s done nothing to establish a basline understanding of the activity they are now engaging in.
I’m sure this reads harshly in 2 dimensions. I’m not trying to be…and i love all growers…new and experienced.

Not at all GroBro. Truth is what it is. Funny you mentoned kiddos. Same here cept it is my 11 year old granddaughter. I bought her a punching bag and some gloves. I could here in the bedroom beating the crap outta that bag. Then she asked about Karate. I said yes cuz of her enthusiasm with the bag. That was 3 years ago. She is now a Gold Belt. She punched a boy at school for jumping on her and bloodied his nose. The school called and I went down and explained to them she will never be a victim and we will not allow her to be bullied. Told em point blank, she always has the right to defend herself if physically messed with. It is a fun road but kinda stressful at times.

I get it. It’s difficult to find enthusiasm to help someone who isn’t willing to take the steps to help themselves.
There have been a number of newer growers who post questions are really only looking for a simple answer like “give it some cal/mag.” When it gets more complicated and you ask about PPM, lighting, pH, and so on you never hear from them again. It’s kind of sad. There have been a few growers who will flat out say “I’m not going to deal with that stuff, it’s just a weed.” All you can do at that point is say, “Good luck with your grow.”

Dang guy’s I went back and read all my first post. I swear I read and read, or at least it felt like I did. I asked a bunch of basic questions. Hell I wasn’t even “liking” post which were helping me.
Thanks for y’alls patience, hopefully when there’s questions I can answer I’ll pay it forward.
One thing that may help or it may have helped me, several threads I was referencing didn’t have a final resolution. So with multiple options of advice, which one if any solved their problems. Just friendly reminders to let us know how things turned out?
As y’all mentioned already, lot of folks ask a question to never be heard from again.

I agree. I’m new to this and I read a lot of different articles and things before I made the decision to purchase seeds. In my case as I started I realized I had questions that the articles weren’t clearly stating for me. I came to this forum and it has been wonderful. But then had questions I hadnt even thought of from the info that ppl were giving on some post. So maybe thats the case for others.

I’m definitely guilty of that one. I didn’t realize there was a search feature until I was here for a few months.
