Growing and guitars

The epis are ridiculously cheap. Stumbled into a black es 335, always wanted one, looked at it, felt good, heavy though?! $299. brand new. I had been looking for just that one in craigs & epay, couldnt pass it up :joy: you know

Here’s the 73 Guild. Purchased it from a jazz guy trough craigs (reminded me of Bill Connors).
@monkman
Anywho, he told me it was owned by a guy who hung out on west 48th st. (the guitar District lol) in nyc. He would hang out in front of the guitar stores & just play, he went by the Bluesman! lol. Who knows if its true, that street is pretty much barren of guitar stores, everyone used to go there especially to Manny’s.
Its pretty beat up so there might be some truth to the story, I just liked it the way it was, should put in a new set of strings though, pretty lazy of me lol.

The rest of the gang, couple of girls missing but you get the gist. the strats are warmoth.
Coolest thing there almost is that McNally Strum Stick, that thing is cool.
Blueberry  Les is actually quite lovely but the pic dont do it justice, same w the strat w the tele neck, beautiful quilted maple.

Twang!!!

Thanks Brother
Fluke ukulele on left (that things sound wonderful) and a 1920 or 30s Banjo Uke, needs a proper set up.

my blind friend Greg had a guild 12 string back in 67 when we were kids. he put his foot thru the back of it and it still sounded incredible. but anything greg played sounded great, he was an incredible guitarist, self taught and played overhand like jeff healy but 20 years before healy got famous. they both played overhand but one used his thumb for a base and the other uses his last(little) finger for a base to hold the neck.

That’s wild monkman, I love Jeff Healy. Guilds are tanks basically :joy: this one is good but I’ve heard better guilds in the city just didnt have the scratch back then.
Speaking of 12 strings guilds, my sister in law broke the head stock on the one I had. She was a little kid then, probably leaned on it to get up (as it lay flat on the ground) and that was that! Ouch!
Didnt get mad either, that’s very surprising too

This is great. Just woke up. Lots of replies. It’s still telling me to wait for more likes.

There’s a lot of great guitars here so far, and that banjo. That’s a dang percussion instrument. But you probably knew that.

I actually played in a band all over St. Louis in the late 19990’s, and in that band I played percussion. So much fun.

It’s nothing like I have re

I like these strings…if you havnt used them they are worth a try.
We all know what works on one guitar will be different on another,
but I really like the tone on these Monal / Retro strings.

I took a look at the tuning keys on the Lombardi. I thought I’d share what they look like.

Now it’s time to tune and play for a little bit. Already smoked some Blueberry so I’m good and relaxed.

Thanks for the tag. Here’s my two:

I got the explorer in 1994, it’s a 91, 76 reissue. Jackson is a Dinky, also from the 90s.

I dig those explorers like you and mote have.

Something about a funky shape makes me feel like a rockstar in my own head.

I’ve always liked how the Gibson’s sound. Tons of sustain with all that mohogany. Hard to believe it, but I’ve never even touched a Les Paul. I’ve always wanted and SG though. The shorter scale feels better to me, although I have pretty big hands. I fell in love with that Explorer as soon as I picked it up. It’s always felt really solid to me, and I play about 1/2 guitar, 1/2 percussion on it.

My gibson LP has tons of sustain.

So, this is crazy, but the flying v I have is great to play sitting down. The v sits right around your thigh and stays in place perfectly.

Thank for the tip Spiney, for a nominal fee I’m always willing to give something a try. I cant find that exact set or gauge on amazon? odd!

@shindig153 I love the look of those old guitars, them tuning planks are probably worth a pretty penny. I did lube up the threads when I first got the acoustic, so different than today’s tuning machines.
The blueberry should go very nice w that, enjoy!

That Jackson is sweet dude! what’s the tremolo system on it? Also, I’ve noticed this before, what’s w the string ends off the headstock?! Seen it before.
Heffe, an SG would be light as a feather in your hands, always liked them too, just a fun guitar.

I would have never thought that, its such an odd shape. The explorers are actually pretty comfortable when playing them standing up, you (I) kinda wind up almost resting my right forearm when playing w it.

its incredible all the nice guitars that are available today, in all price ranges.

And if you dont have to get new, there are tons of good deals out there. I got my 2001 highway 1 strat by trading for two imports I had but never got into. One even had a repaired neck brake. My historic LP was like 700bones. Not too bad for some amazing American craftsmanship

This is a major problem w me though. The last two guitars I got I acquired unintentionally, one I got when I took my son shopping for his first one, the second one jumped off the wall into my arms, what can I do, i had to take her.
Craigslist is ridiculous w guitars, must be very careful bringing in new guitars or stringed instruments of any kind. getting to maximum capacity, if one comes in, one must go out, or at least that’s the theory

700 for an lp is insane. the deals are out there for sure but that one is just nuts, good for you :+1:
