Hello @Budbrother @Hoppiefrog
I have some egg shells and bananas and peels. Should I do anything to prep these before putting them into the soil. Its a 3 gallon pot and I am a few weeks into preflower/flower. I still have weeks before harvest. I am guessimating harvest around the 1st of the year. Any input would be great. Thanks- peace…
Egg shells need to be toasted to remove latex membrane and soaked in vinegar to break down.i forget to measurements @Budbrother knows the specifics there.banana you want to use fruit that is appropriately ripe for stage of growth you are in ,unripe at beginning of flower reasonably ripe for mid flower and over ripe for ripening stage. You would do best to make a ferment in this case ,it will also help make the banana shelf stable
Good morning out there in garden land. Hope you all are safe and healthy. Wanted to update you on Betty. She is not growing very much at all. By my measurements about a quarter of an inch in a week or so.
All the numbers that most don’t pay attention to in organic gardens are good. The ppm’s are low (600), but thats it. The VPD’s, pH, ppm’s, everything looks good. She is green but the leaves around the one bud are still curled downward. But thats the only bud site thats like that. Here are some pictures for yall.
An overhead view that shows what little training I have done with Betty.
The last one(s) are the bud shots of her developing buds. I have to say that these are the best bud pics I have ever taken, and the lenses on this phone’s camera are fantastic. If you zoom in on them its great (imho)
Have a great day, aim high, and take a pull on that thing like you mean it!!! Peace…
Eggs are 1:10 ratio. Toast eggs while fanning them. This air movement will remove the inner coating from the eggs. Once eggs are darkened and no more latex is blowing off them. Then weight them out and add 10x the amount of a living vinegar. Let sit for 7-15 days to ferment.
Thank you very much Budbrother!!! Peace…
This gives you a visual but fo sho don’t do what he did in the demonstration. The leftover grease in his pan created a nasty black layer floating around. I guarantee he didn’t use that batch. That grease would have fermented with the eggs and made a nasty, foul smelling ferment!
Good morning growers, smokers, vapers, and medicine makers!!
Did my morning check on Betty, and no changes to note. In a little effort to see if we can get her going I dropped the light from just over 18" down to 13." Always do the “hand” test. Put your hand over the top cola and see if it gets hot. If its comfortable for your hand, then its comfortable for your plant. She will get some water tomorrow, and I may give her some molasses tea to see if that brings her around. She doesn’t look sickly, but she doesn’t look really healthy either. Maybe I am looking at the forest through the trees. I will keep doing what I can. The top cola isn’t really progressing on top, but all of the cola that will connect to that are moving up her trunk. I will have another progress report in a day or two with pics. Peace…
Hello @patchman,
Wow, look at you go man. I just love the first flowers and how they are a thing of beauty. I am still around my friend but don’t get on my pc much anymore. When I do this is the first thing to look at. LOL.
Do you use any nutrients @patchman? Its been trial and error for me as well but we are learning form the best. I am hoping to get a good harvest in another week or so of Gold Leaf. just started my 2 final flushes with "Advance Nutrients Flawless finish. I am so excited.
You are doing just fine man. I never thought I would get there but patience and time can be rewarding. I will get some more pics of my girls soon for you if you like. Ah, what the heck here we go.
Gold Leaf
Afghan
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods man, and be safe, and I will be back in a week or so.
Happy Growing
Looks great Sam!!! I bet you are just giddy looking at all of that!! You bring all of those home, ok? I will try to reach out to you closer to harvest. Let me know how your harvest goes. Peace…
Hello @patchman,
Thank you for your kind words. I must say they are just magic man. Funny how things just turn out the way you hope. Good advice and help on here has helped me out so much. I will certainly let you know about the harvest my friend. The big Afghan has huge colas @patchman and they smell amazing. Sweet, Sticky, Very Pungent with a hint of citrus. Crazy.
Here is a picture of first Gold Leaf Harvest
I hope to have a taste in a few weeks so I will let you know how that goes. LOL. I am thinking dry weight will be around 4-5oz’s. What you see in the picture is only half the plant.
I am really interested in the strain you are growing @patchman. I may give it a whirl next year.
Anyway, Your baby is looking mighty fine man. Be safe and happy.
Happy Growing
Hey-
So here is the comparison between the 1st plant and current plant. Seeds came from the same shipment.
First up is the first plant- terrible lights and ok soil, and a few problems on the way.
Both of the pictures are right at 2 months. Here’s the current plant which will turn 2 months above ground on Monday.
There you have it. The first plant was over three feet tall, while the current one is less than 2 feet high. I am getting my ingredients together for my next soil. I lack two things I will have to order. I would like to get it made up and “cooking” for a few weeks before I plant in it. Now on another note, I found what strain I am going to plant next. Blackberry Kush. It is very popular on medical marijuana dispensaries. Very good for pain relief. Anyway, I will catch you soon. Peace…
Hey out there in the tent/garden-
Got a second? I have been wondering whats going on with my plant for awhile now. Earlier today I lowered the light, but have raised it up to 18." Tonight’s inspection saw indications of some nutrient deficiency. The tips on some of the leaves are turning brown, but the real problem is in this picture.
That is the worst leaf, and there are a couple more. After looking at my chart it almost looks like a phosphorous deficiency. I am still too “green” to be confident in that diagnosis. @Hoppiefrog and @kaptain3d, do you have any ideas on what I am looking at? I did sprinkle a very little bone meal in a few weeks ago. Any help would be great. Thanks. Peace…
I am far from comfortable troubleshooting deficiencies. But @Hoppiefrog, @Budbrother, @Covertgrower, @TDubWilly might be able to help!
Thank you kaptain. I appreciate it.
It’s truly the least I could do my friend!
I am glad I am worth your least! LOL
Thats more than some peoples’ best.
I’d love to help, Patchy. But I don’t think I’m quite experienced enough to even try to diagnose that one!
I’m sure whatever it is you will overcome. I have much faith in you. x
Ok @patchman, our friends seem busy… let’s try to tag a few more…
@Bulldognuts, @GreenJewels, @Enlightened420, @Arrow, @imSICKkid and all of you great growers out there, can anybody give our friend a little bit of help please?
So I see you have your plants in a living soil. I’m not immediately sure about what is going on by looking at the picture. Possibly @Missiles or @Covertgrower can recognize the problem by looking at pic
