I suspect I will be changing some plumbing when I am down there but goal is to raise entire house 4-6" and place on new foundation I say 4-6" because there was 4" difference out of level from one side to the other when I bought place lmao. The old foundation sunk 4" on one side and the lack of rebar = cracked footings :frowning: Honestly If I could raise whole house 12" would be thrilled but would need to do new water lines drains and NG so not inclined to push my luck and suspect old addition isn’t going to come with the house when it’s lifted :unamused:

She’s bugging me to finish Bathroom and I can’t repeat enough drywall doesn’t like when you shift the house around lmao. I get the complaints of kitchen is too small floors are hard to clean there’s not enough storage and have to answer the same everytime if I finish anything inside when I jack up house it will get damaged. Then follow that with you will want me to have addition built before I start kitchen and finish bath because we will need space to store things in them that will be in the way.
Only saving grace is I can see end result in my head where she can’t, but comments like you are going to make a mess of yard and track dirt in make me laugh and say you want things done that’s how they happen :stuck_out_tongue:

Just a rough idea how out of level house was

dang,that’s more than a bubble!!!

I only lifted one end and am still 1/2-3/4" out but next lift is to bust out old foundation and pour new one since the old cinder block have split and the way it is sitting rightnow no addition would pass any inspection

Wow that a lot but fixable insee you have you hand full for sure

Also have to factor plumbing is under house so can only fix during summer or have lines freeze and burst which equals lots of work days ended with a couple extra hours of shoveling and sledge hammer work jacking is easy part

My wife jokes about how her dad wanted her to marry a lawyer or buisiness man
She says “ you ever had to hire a plumber?”
Me being a plumber , kinda says it all
When you are handy you can save your self a lot of bucks. Home repair bills especially in the plumbing department are seriously costly.

lol Deck need to come off and stump beside it comes out

the foundation on this side is future basement wall so needs to be 6’ deep minimum likely 7’ and unsure as to water table so yes will be busy summer throw in new roof on half the house and will have lots of evenings gone

I never ripped no one off though as is so common in the business
Even walked off a job once because they were trying to sell re pipes to sweet lil ol ladies on fixed incomes and even had sales pitches on how to pressure home ownerss into thousands of dollars worth of un needed repairs

If I hadn’t have bought this place at the value of the land I may be disappointed but I paid less than 20k for the house and got property at assessed value so have room in my budget to make it what I want. Just don’t believe in hiring out things that I can do myself
It’s my retirement investment 5 years of working on this place and stand to walk away with over double price I paid for it addition will add over 600sqft 2 bedrooms utility room and expand living room. Honestly it’s just work and when doing it for yourself it’s money in your pocket an hour or 2 a day after work saves me thousands

@Donaldj…you bought your house with property for 20K??? That blows my mind. Prices here are ridiculous. So does raising a foundation lol. Our house is super old and was built in stages. There was an orange grove below us many years ago, now it’s newer houses. The original house was for the grove tender. Still have skeleton keys on the bedroom doors. The shiplap siding looks just like yours. I spent 9 months sanding and caulking it after work. Took 2 days to paint (used to be a painter). That was 20 years ago and it’s still in decent shape. Wifey thought I was crazy at the time lol. All good eh!!!

I meant raising a foundation blows my mind lol…BTW are TDS and PPM that same thing?

@Countryboyjvd1971 thanks for that! I can’t think of a place to put a larger storage tank, or would do that. Feels like my best option is to increase the RO system output rate. And yes…all I did in my spare time after work or whenever was collecting water!!!
