Grow attempt #3, maybe this one will be a success

Thanks man took them off two days ago and was actually told by another to leave them on for a little. The humidity level stays perfect and can let the soil dry out. Now the soil is dry I’ve removed the cups and gave them a little bit of water and a small breeze.

Running another Titan 9 and the Dark Matter. Really solid genetics from what I’ve seen, especially the Titan 9. I stressed that thing to its limit and it still didn’t herm.

Nice nice an good. Shit I got dark matter now in a 1 gal fabric pot
I wanted to run a sea of green using 5-1 gal pots but my prom night still ain’t done after 13weeks in flower with an 18 day veg she still going hard … but I like dark matter I can’t wait till plants finish so I can get going on my newer strains an finish my fast buds journal still got 3 more strains to grow n document… I got 2 strains in flower right now ( dark matter multiverse beans) (banana purple punch auto fastbuds). Documented

Looking really healthy are you on day like 26? Looks like you went with not doing any training on that so will be cool to see difference with it topped.

Unfortunately that was what I was afraid of. Me personally, when disassembling the dehumidifier I noticed the " case" of it directed the fan/ air flow over both sets of fins. The front one ( without the fan) is the one that dehumidifies. I chopped the case down as small as I could while leaving that area alone because without it, there wasn’t any airflow over the cooling cools to dehumidify making it passive instead of active dehumidifying. It pulls in air through the front and dehumidifies it then it pulls through the 2nd heat sink to cool the backside with the same air, then blows it out of the top.

I’ll make a 3D printed case to make it as small as possible, or possibly use a smaller but similar CFM fan to obtain full functionality while reducing it’s size the most it can be, similar to the size it is " naked".

Another note, I pulled all of my buds out of the fridge at 11% moisture content. Put them in grove bags then heat sealed one and put it back in the fridge. I then turned off the dehumidifier which kept it up in the 70’s RH or so. Basically just removing the humidity control.

7 days later I opened the grove bag and all of the bud that was previously 11%, is now 24% moisture content so it appears those grove bags are not one way.

The bag that I didn’t heat seal and put back in the fridge was still at 11% moisture.

So there’s that, don’t trust the grove bags to keep humidity out in a high humidity environment.

I’m also curious if the dehumidifier is even necessary, quite possible the heat it puts off turns the fridge on which in turn keeps temp while lowering the humidity. If so that would make it much easier to handle.

Honestly this whole thing has been a big learning curve from figuring out which slot to put the dehumidifier in to setting the temps a little lower than 60 to accomodate for the heat the perlite gives off. This thing has been cycling on and off probably every 5 minutes and I have to go in there with a paper towel to get the runoff from the peltier.

I wasn’t able to fit the ink bird sensor through the hole I drilled it even really make it big enough for that matter so the cord is run through the doors seal. There’s a bit of open area that I’m sure is pulling in humidity/air from the room it’s in but I figured not too big a deal since it can replace the air with fresh air now as well. I have noticed the stems appear to be drying it’s been about 9 days now ( 5 or 6 with the dehumidifier) but they still just bend.

Was hoping I would have a better understanding of this whole drying method by the time this next harvest comes because this one is going to be butter either way.

I’ve yet to think of that step yet but was going to be using that. So much money into growing it almost seems cheaper to just go to the dispensary and get variety, but I am still determined to smoke my own one day

Pretty cool you have one of those, what’s the most useful thing you’ve made with it?

Oh I just use it for hobby stuff, like the above example. A couple hours designing the case and a couple hours printing it might be able to let me fit the bottom shelf in the fridge.

I have resin as well as standard filament printers. By all means total novice.

When making something, I always run into needing an odd part, or finding a silly thing to be very expensive so I make it if the conditions work.

From water fill sensors, sump pump brackets, irrigation pieces down to inkjet printer parts or an adapter for power equipment batteries.

It also gives me a great way to run practice fitment pieces if I need to send it off and have it made in metal or something. It really helped when I made some brackets for a couple automation projects using air pistons. Couple revisions later, I send it off to be cut and made in steel.

Pretty much just another tool. I also have a small format laser cutter/engraver for wood and acrylics etc. Plan on using it to customize our cabinet doors and baseboards wherever I find the time.

Yeah, everything in life seems that way, until it doesn’t at least for me.

Just about everything comes with a learning curve which comes at a cost. In the long run, walking away with the knowledge is priceless, let alone the savings for years to come as well as the “perks” of having full malleability for what you want to do with that knowledge.

Day 24 from germination-

Watered, topped and removed bottom two nodes yesterday. I noticed it was showing sex when I did the training so I hope wasn’t too late to do it.

The grow in build a soil 3.0 has been pretty headache free so far with watering between 6.2-6.7 ph water. Been giving recharge once a week and silica off the every watering recommendations.

The picture doesn’t do it justice to the color but I’m noticing slight browning/tanning in spots on this leaf. Just wanted to make sure I didn’t need to use cal/mag before this gets out of hand.

I haven’t been watering to runoff because the plants still little but was curious when I would need to top dress for build a soil 3.0? It’s in a 5 gallon pot and sure it hasn’t used all of its nutrients yet.

Any advice and tips are appreciated I want to have some nice looking buds this go around.
