@Griff , no I didn’t bother with a wet weight . Truth be told I was pretty busy snippin away …about 5 hours start to finish .
Great way to pass the day . lol…glad to see your on your way ! You will have a fun summer .
Sorry , it’s Purple Haze @Griff
Hope your fingers are alright! Worth the effort though. Nice haul regardless! Let us know how it smokes
Lol , it’s all firsts …first grow , first harvest , so it’s all good as long as the dry / cure goes all right @Griff ! The taste test is going to be the icing on the cake …
, High Times Bro !
Congrats on the first harvest…always a thrill! I’m harvesting a WC in 2 weeks…smells delicious, just like vanilla, so sweet.
Another day, another update. The seedlings broke ground with the wedding cake overtaking the LSD! Seems pretty quick to me so I’m definitely happy so far
I rigged up a grow area with the cfl’s. Just used what I had laying around so it looks a bit janky, but I think it should be alright. During the day I’ll pull them towards the window and turn the front lights on (in the picture) to help out. Unless they’ll be better just staying under the lights…
I haven’t got humidity domes yet, just the Saran Wrap so far. Am I okay without them and taking off the Saran Wrap when the seedlings are about to hit it? Should I mist the soil more often or put a small bowl of water in the area to increase humidity if I don’t dome? Just going to be a pain the ass to get domes in there…
I’m also wondering if the lights are too close. I know I’ve seen to keep them very close but it’s getting pretty toasty in there and I don’t want to burn the seedlings this early! I can prop up the lights a bit further if I need to.
Comments, concerns, criticisms…?
Thanks in advance
You can use 2 toothpicks and help that shell off the one Lil guy. I don’t have much experience with cfl’s but you can always lower the light if they seem to be stretching vs. raising it after they’re dead and toasted. LoL your gonna be just fine telling from the effort and care youve already demonstrated. Good luck I’m rooting 4 U !!!
Thanks @LoCoRock! I’m trying my damnest!
And I tried getting the shell off earlier but It didn’t come off right away and I didn’t want to pull too hard, I’ll try again and get it off.
Also, a very good point! Better safe than sorry with 4 roasted babies…I think I’ll move it up a bit for now.
I also want to take the Saran Wrap off because there’s lots of moisture droplets which I’m afraid will burn the leaves like I’ve heard can happen so many times…I might try something a little different for humidity soon.
No water bottles around the house, that’s unheard of these days especially…lol like the pic, shit you can even get 2 tops outta 1 bottle…really only gotta technically watch the humidity super close that first week till they can fend for themselves with roots developed.
Nope just got a Gatorade bottle that gets filled up multiple times a day. And I have some random recycling that I’m going to try and do something with. The thermometer read 32c in with the lights so definitely getting hot…and yeah it’s only until the roots do their thing, but I want them to be as happy as they can be! Lol. It’s all experimentation still so I can’t complain, just want to ask all the questions now.
Should I put some water in the bottom of the pan to cool the soil and create more humidity or is that a no-no this early?
I don’t think ya gotta go out of your way for 2"s of water to make a noticable difference. You said it - about experimentation though. Do you have drain holes in the cups, then I definitely would not!!
Well I’m back for an update. Bit if work got in the way of having any energy or time the last couple days so here I am, with good news and bad news. Bad news first always, right?
The bad news is I roasted my two LSD seeds. They were a bit behind the wedding cakes as far as germination and growth in the soil, and though I probably wasn’t keeping them as moist as I should have, I also spent 12 hours away at work on Sunday and by the time I was home that was pretty much it for them. RIP. Got two new ones in water, debating whether to put them in the light box or not.
The good news is, I have 2 happy wedding cake seedlings! They’ve loved the lights from the start. Not sure if it’s where they were placed or moisture or what, but it was polar opposites for the two strains.
I ended up putting ziploc bags upside down over top of the cups to keep the moisture in. Seems to be working. Wetting the outside edge of the soil and the inside of the bags is keeping things moist.
I’m thinking of slowly introducing more and more water to the soil but I’m not sure what the roots would look like at this stage. Are they growing and seeking out water? Is the humidity as important still or are they big enough to ween them off?
Living and learning, and hopefully the other two LSD seeds sprout quick and healthy and I can have a happy family of four again!
Sorry to hear about your LSD seedlings , at least you have a couple more to rebound back to your plan , maybe with those keep them outa the box and get some good domes next round . Liter bottles cut off work great . They do not need much water at this stage , like your doing mist on the covers and couple drops around the edges is fine too . Good luck with the next two Brother! You got it @Griff
The weight is 131 grams on my first grow .
Thanks @jjs, I’m glad I do have a couple to rebound with for sure. And yes I plan on doing things a little differently next time, maybe I’ll have drank that much coke by this time next year And yeah I’m going to keep going with what I’m doing and just making sure the outside edge of soil starts to dry out before adding more to it. Might add a little bit of the kelp extract to a separate container for the water I’m putting on the soil too but not for a couple days I’m thinking.
Nice haul btw! Saw you have everything curing, glad to hear it was a success!
So. Things are going better with the two new LSD seeds. Both of them are above soil wearing their shells as hats, I’m going to help them with that once they’re a bit bigger in a day or two. Wedding cakes are still going strong, raised the lights up with textbooks so I’m less worried about the heat in the box. I added a tiny bit of kelp extract to my spray bottle so hopefully that helps, or at the very least doesn’t hurt anything.
I’m wondering about the leaves on one of the wedding cake plants though, they seem to be pointing up?
Google gives both good and bad reasons for this. They look green and healthy so I’m not too worried but I figured I’d ask. Anybody have any experience with this?
Looking good there @Griff …look green n happy ! High Times bro !
They look happy and healthy. They are praying soaking up light. If they are NOT stretching don’t change anything. If they do/have stretch bring down the light in very small intervals. It’s hard to tell from the pic 5 days ago if the stems have gotten taller but that’s my thoughts out loud…
@jjs green and happy is the goal right? Let’s hope they stay that way for many months to come!
@LoCoRock I think they might’ve gotten a bit taller but I wouldn’t say they’re stretching by any means which is good. Had another long day at work today but when I got home the one had lowered its leaves a bit so I’ll take that as a good sign.
I have my first problem I need to diagnose Little crispiness around the edges of the two wedding cakes. Pics are freshly watered.
Could it be getting too hot near the lights? I opened the window right beside them to hopefully cool things down and put the portable thermometer inside to see what I’m running with. I think I overestimated how hot they’d want to be kept in the beginning when I made the box. The box might need some tweaking because we are nowhere near outside weather yet. Got a polar vortex rolling through with frost warnings so…happy May!
