I love this repurpose ,recycle and redo I am growing out back but we have 6 ft fencing on three sides and our house blocks the view and I don’t trust people like you say people are nosy. thats why I like a basement grow tent No prying eyes
@spudeater65 I have the same setup, 6’ on three sides and house on the West. My biggest concern was (I know this sounds paranoid) but they take pictures from space. Thats why I dropped my Allstate Ins. they told me I had debris in my back yard and needed to clean it up. My debris was my Man Cave where I do the majority of my grow. Someone commented I should use greenhouse cloth or transparent corrugated roof panels. The only side that can be seen clearly is my North side which I’m going to side with recycle fence. I bought a 8000btu window air from Lowes that was on clearance and a display and paid $75+/-. Its brand new and that will be my climate control. I like the idea of natural sun and Hydroponics. If Mrs. Cat and I ever move I like the idea we can use it as a screened in BBQ deck. I’m going to run water to a sink that will fill my reservoir. It’s a 12’x12’ so I have plenty of room for a couple of plants and some munchies.
4/5 years ago I worked for Lowes and picked up this ceiling fan that had been ordered on line and never picked up. Its a 72" and does not have a light, but is perfect for circulation. Cost new $250 I paid $50. I’ll put a vaulted ceiling in so the fan stays out of the way. I got it for the man cave but couldn’t use it, it looks like a airplane prop.
correction it’s a 60" not a 72".
If we ever move out of this state I do have plans to bliud such small bulidings, can’t do it here Village would be up our butts with ordinacnes. But I have had a garden here for 5 years and people are used to me in the back growing everything. One good thing I have found is carrying odd things with me I haven’t used in years but here it is. wet/dry vac Tupperware trays and I found racks I can use for drying. and We have a food dehydrator to try out. I go it the garage and basement and look around and it is a cheaper grow. Plus we be poor folks haha
@spudeater65 I have a bud that lives in Bama. Small town if ya know what I mean, he has offered to sell me a acre for $1. He recently retired and is looking to buy a saw mill, its making me drool. Problem is Mrs. Cats last brother lives here in Memphis and we can’t just pick up and go. He has heart problems and doctors have told him when he goes it’s going to be quick. We pray he lives a long time but in reality if anything happens thats our plan. Thats one reason the greenhouse can double as a screened in deck. Sell our house here build a new home in Alabama and live out the rest of our days in peaceful country. Only prob. is weed is just as illegal there as it is in Memphis. But we would be in the middle of nowhere with friends around. Mike
I do wish the south would stop being so backwards about some things including weed
I’m a Texan, and always will be, no matter how long I’m stuck in NY, but I can tell you that I’m ashamed of a lot of the actions and policies going down there
We’re getting better Miss. and Ark., Okla., are on board, not completely but not Southern Baptist damned, I’m ready for the Fed. to legalize. Until they can control the boarder it will always be a prob.
I’m with you on that. I’m in Texas and I’m from Az. There are a lot of backward people here. So far behind in their thinking.
I’m going for rustic, next step hang it with HD hinges and hardware.

@Flitme I feel ya on that, Mrs. Cat and I moved from Garland Tx. (just outside of Dallas) in 96 to the Memphis area. I looked down the wrong end of a gun 4 times in Tx. Can’t say I miss that. Mike. Side note We just had a mass shooting at a Kroger groc. store the other day, it was 12 miles away and I was in another Kroger when it happened. 15 wounded 1 dead and shooter killed himself. Whats the matter with people?
I saw that on the news wow. I don’t know what is with people. They need to roll up some smoke and then they would mellow out and not be so mean. I’m very happy you weren’t in that Kroger!! Be careful and take care!!
@Flitme Scary but true, I was doing the honey do’s and the trip was go to the bank and then the store for some chow. My local branch of Wells Fargo closed their door and only by appointment. I had to go to another branch to do my buisness. Both branches were about the same distance only the Collierville branch I would have had to deal with school zones so I went to the other one. Chances are I would have gone to that Kroger to buy grocery’s and that would have put me in that store at that time. Guess it just wasn’t my time.
Thank goodness for that. People are crazy. I am so happy you weren’t there!!
Update on the greenhouse and fence pickets. 1st pic have issues with neighbor so I am taking the salvaged pickets and adding height to my fence, he’s tall but not that tall. Added a security light that looks like a camera and flashes a red light. Its solar so I’m not out any power. 2nd pic is progress on the greenhouse, got the windows popped in. Last wall will be solid and house the A/C and workbench with sink. Had to buy a couple of 2x4s. (damn, I’m cheap) $3.85 each. Just some of the issues yall mentioned addressed.
@Allinherhead @2GreenThumbs @Flitme @JJ520 @Dhooter @dbrn32
Looking good I like the fence fix hopefully that keeps neighbor happy
Nothing like nosey neighbors. I hope that fence makes them mind their business. Looking good!!
@JJ520 @Flitme Thanks, the kicker is the solar power spot light that blinks a bright red light. Its suppose to mimic a security camera. Got it just high enough that he can see it over the fence and low enough the cats set it off. I have one in the front and it stopped him from partying in the front with his garage open (dude is a moron) the last thing I need is the law thinking that my cove is party central. Ultimate goal is to make him realize he can make a lot of money if he sells his house and moves. He has threatened to kill the feral cats and we have lost half of them so far, mostly kittens. Maybe this will keep them in our yard. Mike
Do you have the rest of that old Chevy truck. What year like 52-53?
@Flitme Another sore spot I hired a mech to take the body off the original frame and put it on a 2010 Blazer frame but he disappeared with my Blazer and cab. I have the bed, bumpers, fenders, its a 1950 chevy
. I made shelves out of the bed sides, it turned out way cool
