My question is when I pop these seeds do I need a heating pad AND a light? I saw where ilgm suggests a 36w cfl. Is that enough heat for them or do I need a mat as well?
You don’t necessarily need a heating pad, but it helps. I try to keep my seedlings (air and soil) in the mid to high 70’s. A small CFL is great for seedlings. It should be graduated from the CFL pretty quickly.
I don’t use one. No need. I have my seeds doing their thing in my dark bathroom which gets no outside light. I’ve only had 1 bust and that was my very first Auto. Before I knew what I was even doing.
My bathroom is also 69 degrees.
