Dear Master Growers,
I do not remember when I started it? It is my 1st grow. I know realize I need to keep notes. Can you guys tell me if this is ready to harvest?
Nice buds they are beautiful. Looks ready but the real way to find out is looking at Trichomes. If they are cloudy with 10-15% amber color then I chop mine. Check on the buds not the sugar leaves. You need a jewel loop or one of these microscopes. Congratulations on your grow

From what i’ve read and experienced,
There are a few ways to tell if it is ready.
The easiest way is the orange hairs. When you mave 60/40 orange, it is at peak but can give more negative effects. I usually let it mellow out a bit more.
The other method is using a jewelers loop, magnifier camera, etc. To look at the trichomes. If they are mostly cloudy with some orange, you are done.
The photos you took seem like the orange hairs are nearly 90% so i would think its time to chop.
Shut the lights off and keep it in the dark for 12-24 hours to let the plant dump its excess carbohydrates and other nutrients back in the soil before chopping.
Congrats.
This is totally inaccurate. Hairs are an indicator that the plant is ripening, but the ratio of white to red hairs won’t tell you the plant is ready. At 60% red hairs, it is most likely the plants will still have weeks to ripen and mature. Red hairs are also an indicator of pollination, depending. Most growers use the degradation of the hairs as a sign to start checking trichomes.
You have to go by trichomes, and the magnification tool posted above is a great example of how to check them. There are many more like. You can have 100% red hairs and none of the trichomes ready, yet.
You want to check your trichomes on the flowers, not sugar leaves, and best to find a bud midway sort of deep in the growth. These buds will be slightly behind in readiness, as tops and colas usually ripen a tad bit quicker due to more light exposure.
Thank you sir!!
Surprised the pistil harvest guidance is still up on the site to be honest.
Most folks i know have long abandoned that approach in favor of trichome inspection. That seems to be the most accurate technique I’ve used.
Great looking buds!
You want nearly all those white hairs to turn brown and recede back into the calyx’s then start checking trichomes for cloudy to amber. Check the trichomes on the calyx’s not the sugar leaves. Trichomes on sugar leaves can show amber weeks before the plant is actually ready to harvest.
Welcome aboard @Kirtoverseas Getting close! What seeds are ya growing my friend?
Gorilla cookie that I got from a neighbor.
Looks like you are getting close. Keep checking back. Welcome to the forum.
