Good runoff management solutions?

Hey guys,

My first attempt at crafting an automatic runoff system from the cocoforcannabis guide did not really go too well. Just can’t get the tubes glued to the plastic saucer and even with just an elevated saucer with a hole in it, the saucer is just to uneven to give me a satisfying and fluid runoff. Before I attempt the same little experiment with maybe harder material saucers, I wanted to ask if anyone found good solutions to handle runoff. I found very nice looking trays from thebucketcompany but they aren’t available in Europe. Maybe someone here has a good solution for me? Thanks in advance.

I use the Secret Jardin range of trays. Sure they are from the UK? I drill a 16mm hole in the bottom then glue a piece 16mm polyurethane pneumatic tubing for the run off to flow into a bucket. But my trays are raised off the ground on sloped trolleys so there’s enough space to fit a small bucket underneath.

Yeah maybe slope the trays slightly to create some positive drainage them have your drain hole on the edge of the tray where the water flows due to the slope

I built my own table for like 50 bucks using a washing machine drain tray and 2×4s. Made the back legs an inch longer so the water would run to the front into a PVC pipe.

These are my favorites because they also have wheels.

Using a brass fitting for connecting to the saucer might be better.
You could use some silicone caulk on the threads to help seal it and prevent leaks.
Just drill the hole a little smaller than the threads and it should cut its own in the saucer and fit tight…

Very interesting, might as well try them out. Is the container enough for 10-20% runoff on a 5 gal pot tho?

I manage to ruin even the smallest artisanal tasks. Right now there is only a hole in the saucer and for some reason the runoff just puddles there and drips out slowly. Still might check this one out, thanks.

Got to find a solution to get a good elevation going. Tried with some paper towels, might not have been high enough for a good flow.

That’s my exact setup. The tray picture is misleading…it’s actually the length of the riser.

Somehow I get “page not found” on almost every secret jardin search result.

Actually found one of those on amazon in my region. If the container is big enough that might be the perfect solution! thank you very much.

I’m in SA and we get them in local grow shops here. The deep dish trays have quite a thick wall so there’s enough meat to make a plan for drainage. The shallow trays are quite flimsy though

I think Europe is a bit behind in that compartment.
