everyone is used to the 27 shot revolvers and 18 shot shotguns in the movies , so i won’t bring that up.
but has anyone else noticed the guys that shoot a full clip and then put the pistol in their waistband and don’t burn their junk or butt hole off.
These movies drive me batty they are so inaccurate. They lead to false impressions of what weapons are capable of. A round rarely knocks one down. In fact someone can take multiple bullets and keep fighting. The human body is wholly unimpressed with meat hits. Hitting a vital organ (other than the heart and the brain) can start the death clock, but the perp can certainly keep fighting. The grenade scenes are the worst - the fireballs and whatnot are ridiculous.
John Wick
2008 movie Wanted. Bullets don’t curve budro
Rambo takes the cake with M60 in one hand and belt in the other
I grabbed a hot barrel ONCE!
Just ask Tupac or Fiddy. haha!!
Unless it’s a 50 cal. I got shot in the leg by a HAMMER when I was a kid. Exactly what your thinking, found bullets and we started hitting them with hammers. Lmfao, I was more worried about my mom finding out. She never did.
As for the heat, really depends on the firearm. Aftermarket can mitigate it some. I wouldn’t depend on movies for firearm safety. Hahaha the general public doesn’t even know about that burn.
I run covers on my suppressors. They can get red hot and the heat rising from a suppressor creates a mirage that ruins your sight picture. The cover dissipates the heat pretty well so that it doesn’t ruin your sight picture though a scope.
No experience with suppression here, but I’ve had friends blow them to pieces. Lol. Not really to pieces but the insides shred and become less effective. I’ve never been in a position to where I’ve had to dump whole mags in a hurry. I’m more into burst fire.
Edit
Speaking of optics… the modern stuff I’m slowly discovering is mind boggling. I love it.
I melted one a few years ago. I took the suppressor off when it cooled and when I shook it it sounded like a rattle. Props to Silencerco for doing a free warranty replacement even though it was my fault.
Sounds like a good place to do business with. bet you had a blast
I’m more into the one aimed shot. Took my two big guns out this a.m. to verify ahead of a primo elk hunt in two weeks: Cooper Excalibur in 340 Wby mag and my Sharps in 45-70. Three shots out of the Cooper and you’re frying eggs on the barrel lol.
My 2 favorites for long distance are a .338 Lapua mag and a 6.5 Creedmoor. I got my first hits at a mile in 2019 with the .338. The .338 could take down an elk, but I don’t think the 6.5 could, though you wouldn’t have much problem with a deer with it.
Hell; people are shooting elk with the .243! Personally I think that shows disrespect for the animal. That said, I’ve shot elk with the 340 and it’s a bit too much.
My hunting partner and I got back a couple of weeks ago from Alberta where he shot a dandy moose with his Mark V (340 Wby mag) and we were shocked. That moose took two solid hits and didn’t even flinch. Ambled off into the brush like it was Sunday brunch. One pass-through and the other was sitting under the skin on the off side. We just finished butchering it. A solid 500 lbs. of meat in the freezer.
Wow, congrats!!!
And only once eh!
Lapua is bad azz. Had a chance at buying one bought a Rem 722 in 257 Roberts instead alot easier to reload
Have been moose hunting in Ontario a few times have been on 5 kills but never one from my rifle yet, congrats and yes they are a chore to get out of beaver ponds, rivers and swamps, enjoy your bounty
