GoldLeaf*** dud seed

I started my second grow. I started with 1x Blueberry auto, 1x Amnesia Haze auto. I used peat pellets and both germinated in about 48 hours. I ended up trying to prop up the BB, as it fell over, bad idea because I broke the stem. She died, but that was on me; so I started a GoldLeaf*** in the peat, but it never germinated.

I had to drop another AH auto and the it is about to break the surface already. You can see it, the white spot on the second pellet, the GL*** is up top, with nothing to show.

I don’t think it is my method, as I have already successfully grown one BB, and now to AH seeds are going.

Looks like a lot of water

I agree with @Hogmaster. I germinate in paper towels then once I get a decent tap root I plant into starter soil.
But those peat pellets look awful wet.

@Jmesser80 Agreed my friend

Both of my Gold Leaf were really slow to pop, but once they did, they took off and were way in front of anything else at that stage.

@Hogmaster Nah, no other seeds had issues. Certainly not the amount of water. Blueberry was fine, and 2 x Amnesia Haze

Nope, no other plants had issues. My first grow I soaked a BB in water, then I put it right into the soil that was wet. I have also done 3 other seeds with no issues. This is the first.

It took my number 5 Cronic Widow 6days and 20 hours to pop open
Vs 30ish hours for numbers 1 and 2
Number 5 is pushing up on the soil now and I expect her to pop through within 36 hours or so
Got to be patient

Thanks, I’ll keep it going and use another peat pellet, as it seems others have mentioned the saturation. I’ve always kept the seeds moist,

Not all seeds will germinate the same way. What works for one seed may not work for another.

I agree with the others that moisture may be an issue. also it looks like in the first picture you can still see the seed after it is was planted. I think you’ll want to get the seed down a little less than a 1/4"down into the soil and then cover it up so it is dark.

Just a thought.

Hope this next attempt works out better for you!

I like them 1/2 - 3/4 inch deep so roots have time to get a good start before it comes through to the light
IMO

@Ray4x @hillbilly103 Hey all, yeah it was actually covered. I opened it to show the seed. With the peat pellets and soil I do plant the seed at 1/4". As you can see by the AH seedling about to sprout, I do keep them covered.

@ktreez420 agreed, however all seeds other than this one have germinated. I have no doubt that the majority of the seeds from ILGM would germ, but there are seeds that will fail.

I really was just trying to point it out. I love ILGM products, seeds, service. They are great and this is in no way intended as a slight.

I have germinated tons of seeds over the years. I did grow a long time ago, this was before all of the fancy products and easy access to info and products. I would never let the medium that I was germinating a seed on dry out, that has never worked. I understand people thinking that “it must be to moist”, but they are only looking at one pic after I had just sprayed the peat. Having the medium dry out would kill the seedling, so not sure why they think it’s an answer. If 99% germ under these conditions and only one seed does not, it is more likely the seed and not the method.

I killed my seedling by having them too wet. By too wet I am not saying it should be dry, just moist.

Ive had a seed not germ even in the paper towel method, very weird but duds do happen as all others germed. Theirs no possible way Robert and the crew can 100% know all seeds will germ but the chances are you messed up somewhere as I don’t hear many complaints

Was just pointing out a seed that didn’t germ, your comment seems to suggest that I am blaming ILGM for a dud, which I am not, as I posted earlier. I am very happy with ILGM and all the info they have. But to be as speculative as to blame me, after mentioning that you have had duds, is a bit silly. All my other seeds have germed and had no issues. Duds happen and chances are I didn’t mess up along the way. Not trying to be argumentative, but seems folks forget to be objective

I’ve had plenty of duds over time, and it’s usually from the seeds I wanted to grow the most lol! Murphy’s Law, right?!

LOL yep. I am super happy with ILGM, if it were not for them I wouldn’t be able to get where I have gotten. Love this site and the forum. For my next grow I will do the plants from the platinum(?) pack that I have: GoldLeaf, Purple Haze, and super silver haze. For now I am happy with the two Amnesia Haze autos. Probably was a good thing the seed didn’t germ, so I can focus on the autos, and not mix in a plant that I will have to flower. To be honest, I’d be happy growing anything

Aye man that’s my bad, I didn’t even buy from ILGM and if it truly was a dud you deserve a free seed. ILGM has an amazing forum and their seeds seem to be great but they are so unbelievably pricey. If I spent 8 bucks on one seed that was a dud I’d want another one is all I’m saying.

I have to agree that I’m seeing entirely too much water. Seeds require both water and air in the correct amounts to have the highest rates of success. While your Blueberry and Amnesia Haze may have survived during germination process, I believe a fair amount of luck and good strong genetics played a part.

I personally use the paper towel method.
