I read before if you have Gigantic fan leaves it’s ok to take them off. These fan leaves are the size of my hand and since I am doing LST the fan leaf is blocking a lot of undergrowth. I was thinking about cutting it off but when I looked the Gigantic fan leaf is it’s own entire side stem. I have a few of those Fan leaves like that. Their massive and their attached to a stem so I don’t think I should cut them what do you Think?
I don’t have large leaves on most of my plants because I am always picking them off.
I remove every leaf attached to the main stalk. I also remove every leaf on a branch not attached to a bud site I intend to keep.
Basically I pick a mid sized leaf and then remove every leaf that is larger.

I leave them till its flowering time. I have had fan leaves bigger than 12” long. @Cannabian has pictures of some hardcore fan leaves. They make what you described small in comparison. Hell my biggest fan leaves shadow in comparison to his.

I would remove the fan leaves if the plant is healthy and growing. It will open up the lower bud sites.
What worries me about removing these giant fan leaves…their attached to what look like celery sticks…their not small leaf stems their gigantic celery sticks. But they are killing the under brush because they are blocking all the light.
But my giant fan leaves are attached to what look like celery sticks not leaf stems. The issue is they are killing some under brush because they are hogging all the light. Should I still chop them even if their attached to celery stick like leaves. They are actually thicker then the main stem their attached to.

That big stem is part of the leaf. If your gonna clip them pinch them with your nails, it closes the stem and clip them close to the branch or stem they’re growing from. Its OK to clip them and many of us do, the little pieces of stem left will dry up and fall off. It won’t hurt the plant to clip those big leaf stems weather or not you should clip fan leaves at all is up for debate. If you can tuck them under that’s OK too.

It won’t skip a beat and two branches will grow out from where the leaf was.

Yep! Especially if you are growing indoors. Remove the blockers. I grow big plants with real sun, so great penetration. Indoors, light is nowhere near as powerful and the big leaves can create some issues. That said, they do create a lot of food for the plant. So it depends on how tall they are, how much light you have, how dense the plant is.

For indoor isn’t high humidity the reason for the big fan leaves?
I am growing giants but I am trying to make them stay small because I don’t have that kind of space. The big fan leaves we’re definitely making the lower levels of the plant get zero light. I removed several giant fan leafs and I can finally see the bottom of the plant again.

I think it’s genetics. As the other people said if your growing big plants you will get big leaves. They are the plants known to grow 10 to 15 feet tall but I am trying to make sure they don’t get anywhere close to the height but still the genetics to be giant are in its genetics

Which plant has the big leaves Blue Dreams info says 47 to 67 inches for indoor grow and yeild indoors and outdoors would be the same. If you grew it outside under the right conditions you can get most sativa dominant hybrids to grow 10+ feet. Indoors In small pots 47in is a good size plant, your tent would probably need to be 6ft or taller. Chocolope can get pretty big with yeilds of over 20ozs indoors and 35ozs outdoors but those numbers are under perfect growing conditions. I clipped off plenty of leaves that were bigger than this one. I tuck them out of the way until I can’t then I clip them but only if the plant has enough big fan leaves for it to not matter.
Chocolope and Blue dream are both susceptible to mold and Blue dream is also susceptible to parasites and a little more difficult to grow watch your humidity during flower. The bigger and fatter the buds are the more easy it is to get bud rot.

I had bugs! Yes in the blue dream. I was completely shocked I nearly fell over. I was doing the LST bending and all the sudden out of nowhere I seen an Ear wigg. How did the ear Wigg…then a few week later I noticed something was eating the Blue dreams leaves. I couldn’t find anything…then it was eating a lot of leaves. I interrupted the light cycle to parasite hunt and I found it. Fungus Gnats! How did they even get there? I read D earth basically kills every insect known to man. I powdered both plants up with D earth. I think any parasite that might of been on the plant is long dead since I hit them hard with the D earth. I am worried about the Bud rot in the future because my last plant did get bud rot during the drying process (a few buds) I don’t know how bud rot occurs during drying but it did. I have several weeks left of vegging but I will switch them to a 7 foot height but I really am going to bend the heck out of these guys…I like them not to get taller then 3 feet really. They are like 1.5 feet now and I have been bending the heck out of them or they probably would already be like 5 feet tall.
