I was wondering about how long it takes using the paper towel method to germinate gorilla glue seeds
Was the glue still wet when you started??
…dad joke…
I honestly have no idea.
If you soak them overnight in water, it speeds the process a little. Still takes approximately 48 hours, but can take up to 5 days. Some are just slow to start. In the end it all evens out if you get a slacker or two.
Thanks for the information it’s been about 5 gays now and still no tap roots on 5 out of 6
I don’t like the paper towel method because it is too easy to let the paper towel dry out and kill your seed.
I soak for 24 hours, (bit less or bit more), and plant directly into moistened medium. (In my case Pro-Mix). As @Covertgrower said, it can take up to 5 days to poke above ground, but usually see sprout in 2-3 days.
Old seeds may need to be scuffed. This will not be an issue with ILGM stock. The seeds here are honestly top shelf.
How warm is it? How wet is it? All of that makes a difference as well.
Moist not wet,
And 75-80°F
If your good on the environment, it’s just a waiting game. Sometimes they do take longer than 5 days. I say ride it out.
If your towel dried out you may have an issue. If you soaked first, how long did you soak for?. If you didn’t pre-soak, then you might try that and follow my other post.
Exactly my method @Reticence
The less you handle them the better I feel.
Yup I agree @Spiney_norman. I have killed a few with paper towel. I have a 100% success rate with the soak and plant method. Pretty much if the seed is viable this method works!
Yes, I have had a couple not pop, but seeds are just that way. Even in other plants like peppers or tomatoes some seeds just dont grow.
