I just put seeds to germinate one gorilla glue. In one jar and another jar I have a girls scout cookies. It’s been more than 24 hrs they still haven’t opened. Now these are auto so I do t know what they’re supposed to do. I put two purple haze fem seeds to germ and the next morning the popped wide open both of them. And in 72 they was ready to plant and so far there came out are are thriving. I’m just worried because these seeds are not doing what the previous ones did. Can it take longer to 24 hr to open. I’ll let you guys know in the morning if they finally opened
@Papo17 sometimes it takes longer. Keep them in a warm dark space, you can add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to a small bit of water to help soften the shells. It does help.
After 6 days I flush.
Some are slow and as above said perox drops in water help.
Paper towel (moist) for a couple of days, and tails appear, we hope.
Ive had seeds pop in almost less then 24 hrs and some a few days…Mostly in 24hrs though…Ive been pretty lucky when it comes to germination.
I has one take 6 days before . When other 5 same batch popped in 24 hrs… he actually preformed better thw. Half of them in the end i was shocked
I looked in on them this morning still nothing. I put some hydrogen peroxide in the water I’m hoping this will help.
Keep them warm…
Stick it out. Just had a drought myself. I just kept at it. Here is the patience result. The plant in the cup was put in a pot 3 friggin weeks ago. Yesterday she poked her head out of a pot i stuck another bean in. I figured she failed. SURPRISE! You just never know. I have actually had 1 pop a month or so after putting in soil. Came up right beside a transplant. Grew big and strong.
I have them in a dark closet Ian’s I have them both wrapped in a blanket. To keep them warm. Good news the gorilla popped open after I hit it with the HP. But the Girl Scout cookies still hasent opened.

I would not stress until after a week, like @DEEPDIVERDAVE said spot on. If none look fuzzy (mold) I will give ‘em like 10 days. But definitely starting to pop some other seeds by day 10….
I have seen this happen a fair bit. I am glad you mentioned it. Especially on older seeds, but definitely have seen this on fresh seeds too. When I sprout seeds if I have any duds after the week or so I place them all together in a small pot and set it aside. Any that fuzz up or get moldy I of course chuck. But the solid looking “dormant” ones will often sprout later like @Storm mentioned. I have seen seeds randomly sprout over a year later out of the set aside pot. I wonder if its mother natures germination backup plan incase a whole season was not conducive to growing.
More big picture like population dynamics. Or like out of sync jacks (males) in salmon runs. Like volcanic super activity (planet wide event) or meteor strike made a whole year wacky and failed crops.
Drain excess water, place in moist paper towel and contain in darkness supported vessle.
Or place in dirt with marker and wait.
@noddykitty1 NK1 and @Storm have it right.
Good growing to you
