Germinating seeds, starting inside, how many CFLs

Hey guys so I’m germinating another couple seeds and they’re just about ready to go into the paper towels for X amount of hrs til they sprout a good Taproot. My question out of curiosity is how many “daylight” 6500k CFL bulbs would I need to efficiently get 4 plants started? And how many hours should I start the light cycle for them. 18/6 or just straight 24/0.
Just tagging people and if you don’t know then I apologize for the unnecessary tags, but if you know someone who could help could you tag em as well please and TIA.

Also forgot to mention that I’m eventually going to move these outdoor so maybe a good way to adapt them to the natural sunlight after a while. Thanks again I appreciate all and any input.:pray::pray::open_hands::open_hands::evergreen_tree::evergreen_tree:

How long are you trying to grow these plants under said amount of CFLs?

You will need at least 4 for adequate lighting. To avoid stretching in the sprouts, I would add as many CFLs as I could fit, or buy.

Personally, I recommend you just use/buy a T5 fixture. It will take care of your plants from sprout to some of veg, and even through veg if you get the right T5’s.

I’m just trying to get them to the vegetative state just out of the seedling stage. Then once they have a few nodes maybe move them outside for the most part of the day and substitute the rest of the light with a fixture in a closet on a shelf.

A T5 fixture and light? How much would that cost me for the setup of just the light? If you know off the top if not I’ll look it up in the meantime.

Ok , you just trying to get them started and ready for outside…
4 seedling should be ok under 2 …75W cfl ( day light)
Get them ready about 3rd true leaf, put them in 1 gal pit and strart moving them outside to get daylight…
I have 60 plants under just 300 watt cfls in greenhouse just to keep them from flowering too early, they getting their growing light during day ( direct sun)

Yes sir. I don’t intend on keeping them indoors for the whole grow just the beginning of the grow to make sure they grow good and develop strong roots so I don’t have a problem transplanting them and they wont stress or shock as much.
That being said should I keep them inside the whole seedling state or still put them outside every here n there throughout the seedling stage? Also if I just decide to do (4) 75W Daylight bulbs would there be a over light issue of any sort?
HOLY!!! 60 plants wow thats nice haha Happy growing!
Also just a side note these will just be experimental seedlings but I’m going to try and see how they do in 90/10 Perlite/Soil mix any problems that you could think of? Maybe nute substitutes but I don’t think they’ll need nutes that early right?
Thanks again for the input and I hope everyone had a great Easter with their families. Happy growing all!

Thats correct, they dont need anything until about 3rd true leaf…
4 clfs will be ok , keep them 6 inch above…you want the seedlings reach
for the light a little but not too much…
When you transplant them to theirs final spot, if you just ecperiment and
dont want to use any nutes, get them good organic soil with worm casting
and bat guano, plant them in and just water…
Keep it simple , you be fine…slow, but steady…no issues
Good luck

And also , yes, you can expose them to daylight very early on…no direct sun for too long at the beginning, but they will start loving it after a few times…its very beneficial for them…

The 3rd true leaf alright then perfect thanks for letting me know
Alright I don’t want to overkill but if I can keep em short and give them enough light then ill be good mostly just because id prefer a shorter bushy plant than a lengthy plant. But ill take it all honestly lol
No I’m going to give them nutrients, but I’m not going to use soil and if I do itll be at most 10% but thats also why I was asking if the soil would give the plant anything that I would need to replace nutrient wise. I have the foxfarms trio nutes so I’m sure that should suffice right?
Simple is how I like it lol

Awesome I will definitely give them some good hours underneath sunlight then! After they’ve become accumstom of course.

Its all good there…
Once you start your nutes you need to adress any nutes related questions to the experts here…
I cant help you, I dont use any artificial feeding at all…not even organic labeled…
Anyway, you be fine, there is a lot of experiented growers here in the forum…
Happy growing
