First time after about 20 years lol i bought feminised GDP seeds they’re about 5 weeks old now I’ve been doing 18/6 with the lights but recently I was told they prefer 12/12 can anyone shed some light on the subject please

If they are photo period seeds, give them 18/6 then flip to 12/12 when you want to induce flowering.

…but if they’re of the “auto-flowering” variety. Then 18/6 start to finish.
You didn’t say they were auto’s, but they weren’t really around 20 years ago, so that might be something you’re unaware of yet. Not sure…

I leave my auto plants at 18/6 until they have been flowering for 3 to 4 weeks. Then finish them off on 12/12
@TeNNWisKeY I’ve heard of dimming the lights for the last week or two to prevent foxtailing, but why do you cut the hours back on autos? I know some autos can need 12/12 to induce flowering if their genetics aren’t strong, but why cut them near the end?
I’ve never done it and haven’t heard of it before, so just curious, maybe I’m missing something.

My last run i did that mainly due to keeping the temps in check and found that my flower finished just fine and thick.

Yeah, temps are a pretty common struggle this year it seems.

For sure in the south. Thats why im taking a break until probably September to start my next round.

Thanks for the replies no they’re not autos just feminised as far as im aware of lol yes a lot has changed since the last time i grew indoors lol outdoors i just threw the seeds and let em go if they grew cool if not oh well but im just over paying for it so y not have another crack
