I would try fimming instead of topping.
Good evening.
So, I decided to FIM but noticed Iāve run into close growing nodes.
Raised the light from 18ā to 22ā. Does anyone here have experience with using the Upgraded light to VIPARSPECTRA 2023 XS1500 Pro LED light.
Thereās an option to turn the brightness downā¦.but if I raise the light is brightness still a concern? Iāve had the light all the way up at 18ā. I have more than enough space to raise the light.
This thing is growing but itās super short for 3 weeks. I may have had the light too close at seedling.
Im now at the 3 week mark sheās only about 5 inches or so high. I check on her way too often out of paranoia and wanting things to go right. Thank you
What youre shooting for as far as lighting is ppfd and dli. Different strains, heck, even same strain different seed might grow differently and look different. If its a hybrid, did the indica or sativa come out more? You can download the photone app to get you in the ballpark with dli amd ppfd
Good day growers!
Just sharing an updated photo of my GDP.
Iāve fimmāed a bit, possibly too darn much. Water MWF with feedings of GH every two days. Iām 25 days in so just about a week or two into a real vegetative state - correct or no?
18/6 on light and keeping the light around 26 inches high with light intensity being about 350-400p.
The humidity (day and night) can reach as high as 83%. Im in the process of shopping around for either extra fans or just shell out the money I donāt really have on the AC Infinity exhaust/filter combo ā¦. Sheesh. Any recommendations on getting the humidity lower is appreciated,
MAJOR CONCERN: Now what? Itās been fimmād, the main branch has been LSTād (bent and strapped down). The fan leaves and thick foliage seems to be preventing light from reaching the inside. What now? Or, just water, walk away, and let nature raise this girl without so much of my interference. I tuck leave each day but within hours the large leaves pop back up.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Good evening,
Any thoughts on my previous inquiry? Not sure if the @ + name function is needed in order for the post to be visible but Iām giving it a shot since it wasnāt done in conjunction with the post above. Thanks

@Moringa
Looking full for sure. Alot of people donāt trim leaves. I would trim a few that are blocking some of the bud sites. It would improve the airflow too.
But thats just me.
Looking good!
Plants are looking healthy Growmie and I would recommend not misting the leaves particularly with lights on and fighting high RH. For the defoliation I would remove all growth below the 3rd node and LST as in tie the upper branches off to the side of the pot to open the canopy up. This will expose all those hidden future bud sites.
I count the 2nd node as #1 in this pic and so on
@merlin44
I think itās looking great. Let it ride or work on node spacing.
Which plant are you referring to? I am sure to have an opinion.
Thanks Shadesfang. .
Merlin, your guidance appreciated. Youāve chimed in on my previous grows with stupendous feedback.
Regular GDP Strain.

MAJOR CONCERN: Now what? Itās been fimmād, the main branch has been LSTād (bent and strapped down). Iāve defoliated this morning.
I think your plant is looking very good. Just keeping doing the things that have been working so well. Thanks for the tag @Shadesfang
@merlin44 to many chocolates last night
@Moringa wow yes keep on doing whatās working! Those look happy happy!!
Thanks for the tag plants look good, Might consider cleaning up around the bottom of the plant a bit. also a few in middle of the plant for better light penetration.
Keep up the good work
Looking really good! Donāt sweat it!
That was one bushy gal! Iād let her recover then flip. But depends on how big of a plant you intend to grow. That haircut is going to do you some airflow good either way. I bet sheās recovered nicely already
My lady is back to being super full and plentiful after just a few days after defoliating.
I have plenty of space in the tent still and havenāt switched to 12/12. Was waiting for her to bounce back after the defol trim.
Any advice on what to do with the circled area of leaves? They seem to be growing new and fast on the lower inside branches.
Please chime in.

You will be the judge of how far down the plant you want to remove new growth.
I grow most of my plants in a SCROG frame. Any new growth below the net is removed. I donāt take off the lower leaves, just new growth.
When I donāt use a SCROG frame, I usually take new growth that is more than 4 or 5 nodes from the top at the time I flip them to flower.
This is a bit wishy-washy but I hope it helps a little.
From my experience growing granddaddy purple They do throw a lot of thick foliage
I tend to take a few more leafs For better light penetration than other strains. But Iām old school guy I donāt like to strip my plants. I would take the little stuff circled on the bottom. Thanks for the tag good luck .
Once you flip to 12/12 I would remove all the new growth down low. Just ends up being small buds with no light. Good job opening her up!
Thanks. I plan to SCROG but again I was waiting a bit until the plant bounced back from defoliation. Will definitely follow your recommendation!
