I personally do not flush but water feed the last 1-2 weeks. Basically a soft flush, saves on the nutrients. Studies have been done with no noticeable difference between flushing and not flushing
I do not flush. I feed and water up to harvest. Once I have determined the day I am going to chop, based on trichome production as seen with a scope, I do not water her for 3-5 days prior to the chop. No dark period, no ice baths. I drop the DLI to 35 on 12/12 light cycle, (I grow only photo) and the temps and humidity are as close to 65°F and 35% RH for the last 3 weeks or so.
Welcome back to the best hobby on the planet!! Good luck and we are all here to help each other be successful!!
I don’t flush but like others, I run water only for the last week or two.
Unless you are sure of no WPM (White Powdery Mildew) I also do a peroxide bud wash. This is probably the best thing you can do to assure the cleanliness of your harvest.
Every video I see of people washing cannabis I feel there not doing it right. Why you may ask as soon as you dunk wash cannabis any film on top of that water when you pull the Cannabis out is now reattaching that film to the bud when you pull it out.
What I do is fill the container that I’m going to be cleaning the Cannabis little hydroperoxide. Then always have water going into that container constantly trickling in. then when you stick your hand arm and the bud in there it should overflow the container and the film up top will be gone. By the time I shake off that bud laid in another container while it drips out and repeat the process the water that was trickling in is pretty much up to the container and repeat the process. I’ve helped out on environmental clean out on big scales this is why if you try this method you will understand and you constantly getting clean water. On the downside you got to constantly be using hydroperoxide because you are now overflowing it away down the drain. Still worth it for me.
Oh I forgot to say I do this in the shower so the overflow goes down the drain.
I vigorously wash everything the water is getting splashed everywhere, no film on top. If I was just dipping them in and pulling out I could some film maybe getting on them. I use 3 buckets 1st has water, lemon juice and baking soda. The 2nd has peroxcide and water. The 3rd has clean water. I grow outside. I live in a rural area that’s dusty dirty and windy all the time.
Same here I grow in living soil too. My well water ph is 8 to 8.3
I water from a garden hose or I pump it out of my duck pond. Only time I ever ph my water is when they’re seedlings in small pots in store bought soil. My plants are in the ground a few feet away from my pond.
The only legitimate reason to stop feeding a week or two before harvest is to save mony. There’s no way to prove that is makes the weed any better or any worse. How would you know, maybe its just better or worse weed.
The only thing I see during a bud wash on the surface is a rainbow sheen. Supposedly this indicates the presence of WPM. Plant is washed off with the hose/shower head after immersing in peroxide/water.
I’m glad everybody seen the rainbow Sheen like you seen I thought it was just me LOL. My first grow I washed and seen what came off of it I was amazed. That room was ultra clean it was just my grow room. It’s just when I see certain videos on people I’m just like man you just got it back on the weed silly. Above me I never thought about baking soda I just know the hydroperoxide is what I use I get a bunch of bottles.
Thanks for the replies everybody I like learning other people’s techniques and sometimes Incorporated and sometimes not.
Like all the post above is always micro contamination no matter how clean your grow room is. My last home the room was just for grow would filter fans inside the room and also carbon filters in and out of the tent itself. That was my first two grows and it’s still was slightly dirty. I feel it’s worth it it’s a pain in the ass yes but worth it.
Like the post shows above is a little Sheen you’ll see on the top water kind of like when you see gasoline but not near as bad. What I would suggest is you try a couple of buds that way and dry the other way you want and make the decision yourself. Good luck
