Fiz's Second Grow - LSD Auto triplets

I think there is one.

It didn’t get a lot of attention.

I guess everyone is embarrassed at their problem greenchildren. But honestly, it’s part of the game what with the way the plants - especially autos - are bred. Obviously newbies come here for help, seeing that “it happens sometimes” would help.

I just gave it some.

I’m quite proud of my mutants. But yes definitely more awareness that genetic mutations and slow starters are common would be helpful. If I was limited on how many I could grow (well, more limited anyway) I’d be tossing my freakish runt. No reason to spend three months on a plant that may not survive to harvest.

I was very embarrassed that Lucy was tiny, I thought I did something wrong. Probably I did, but well, that’s the wrong attitude. I knew I could grow plants, so I persevered. I probably facepalmed at myself 100 times, but I got through it.

Betty will just get “demoted” to the Lucy tent, and Shirley gets to go into the bigger room. But I do think Slowpoke is a lost cause, and Slowpoke 2 should take her place.

 as long as we keep her named Slowpoke I’m happy.

But I agree. A lot of autoflowers are stunted from beginner mistakes - a lot of autoflowers are stunted from genetics. A handful of beginners luck out and get great genetics that flower despite beginner mistakes. A handful of beginners make no mistakes but have stunted genetics. I’ve grown enough autos now to see the difference when they emerge - “oh sh!t she’s going to be a small one.” But Runty is a truly strange one for me. All wonky genetics.

Yeah, I’ve got quite a mix in the LSD plants - Lucy, small but packed (so I can’t complain, 2 oz first try is not horrible), Loretta - DOA, Claudette - that girl has muscles I swear, Audrey, as slight as her namesake, and well, Betty.

Oh! And she has to be Slowpoke no matter what, because she’s going to be way behind.

If i was limited on how many i could grow, I’d get me a good strong plant going and graft other strains on to it like people do fruit trees.
No reason a person couldn’t have 4-5 strains growing from 1 root ball.
Technically it would only count as 2 plant

That’s a curious thought. I bet grafted weed is a fun experiment. Wonder if it’s worth the hassle.

It definitely alot of work. But being limited to a low number of plants could make it practical to go through the effect. Or to mother different strains in one pot I believe is why its most often done.

That certainly has its potential. I have a 3gal pot dedicated to the only “mother” I plan to keep. I’m re-vegging one now but I haven’t gotten a smoke report so idk if it’s worth keeping around to cut clones or if it’s better to just let her go and expend the space on something more preferable to my family & friends. May be worth investigating a one-mom-two-strain hybrid if it smokes well. you’re trouble. Giving me even more experiments to run.

After watching the Super Bowl, I went to check on the kids - bedtime ritual, don’t you know - and found the triplet’s humidifier ran dry and the tent was rather - warm - around 82 degrees!

So got that sorted, tomorrow when I’m not tired I’m going to see what it looks like with the flipping supersonic fan in there, and then I can change the 100 cfm back to the Lucy tent.

Since this blasted light runs so hot (140!), I was thinking about doing 16/8, and flip the light 4 on, 2 off throughout the day. Anyone got any ideas on that? Seems to me, it wouldn’t allow as intense a build up of heat.

I “think” that @merlin44 does something similar with his light schedule.

Hey Fiz, Eminem sang a Weird Al song at halftime! :joy: Couch Potato is a great song, looks like Eminem sang Lose Yourself. I cracked up while watching the halftime show playback.

I was sitting there thinking “they’ve got to get Weird Al up in here one of these years”. Wouldn’t that be an awesome show?

I run 6 ON/2 OFF for veg.

Thank you! I’m going to play with the timer tomorrow and set that up.

Yeah, I went and fell down the 6/2 rabbit hole, it does sound like something that will work for me. The only thing I’ve really been worrying about in that tent is the heat. Sounds as if it helps with that issue. Yay!

2/14/22 Day 14 for the trips. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Make sure to show your greenbabies some love today.

The new humidifier arrived this morning, I noted two upgrades to the same model I bought a month or so - a handle on the bottom of the tank to make carrying easier when full and it now has a filter inside the tank, so I don’t need a purple fish in there!

I also pulled both my timers - which are the pin kind, I do have a digital one but honestly it’s more of a pain in the ass to set! I’ll be minding the big tent, where the heat problem is. Still haven’t switched fans, likely I’ll try it tomorrow since I’m babysitting again today and want to be home for the fan experiment.

Set both tents for 65% RH. Shirley’s getting 15 DLI and the big tent was at 20 last night - could be higher this morning as growth is happening. Pushing to 25 in the upcoming week.

It’s 17 degrees out this morning, and the big tent was at 81 when I checked it. A little warm, but not ridiculous.
