First timer, looking for advice

Autos would actually be more expensive to grow due to having to continually pop seeds and wait for them to mature in order to flower. With photos they just take cuttings and get them into flower quickly. Quicker turn around without seed cost. Time is money lol.

I’ve got a new question @bonjoyle, i noticed these spots on my bottom fan leaves, are they a nutrient issue?

And…i bought seeds, next time i’ll know what im actually growing.

Hard to say for sure. Looks like it but it could also be pests since you are outdoors. Look at the underside of the leaves with damage. If it is something like mites, they are small easier to see with a loop or scope.

What are these guys? See more of them?

Ive been picking those off every day, some of its fluff from nearby weeds(like dandelions but smaller seed fluffs) but some seem to be cocoons, i pull them off with a firm pinch. So it could be their damage…hmmm ive been looking into some neem oil until i can get a little greenhouse to keep her in

Use what you have to but I would not use neem oil. Captain Jacks would be a better and safe even in flower option. And if you are going to spray something on the plant, do it at lights out or sundown so you don’t get the lensing effect from droplets on the leaves.

I dont liek the idea of spraying anything, i havent researched enough to get the neem oil but ive seen its name thrown around haha. I lift every leaf and check under them everyday though. So im not too worried abiut pests yet, i have some dandelions growing in pots around it as ive heard they are decent pest detterent. My other theory was actually lens burn, i noticed them after the first round of bloom fertilizer, so im wondering if its just some lens burn from the little bit of splashback during that watering. im paranoid though haha ive made it too far! Again i appreciate yiur quick responses! Thank you for your time and knowledge!

@Charlomack growing outside you almost have to do something to prevent pest. A whole crop can be lost a in a few days if you get an infestation. Neem oil is hazardous to smoke. Captain jacks, pure crop 1, lost coast plant therapy all can sprayed until harvest. It very well could be sun spots but personally i wouldn’t chance it. Id treat with something.

Thats two for captain jacks, I’ll go ahead and order some on payday because the once over woth tweezers every afternoon is gonna get tiresome when theres more than one plant!:+1:

That is interesting, i assumed the opposite. I assumed autos because of the quick turnaround. But that does make sense. And, i prefer photos, so for me that is a plus. I have a TON of strains from dispo smoke. Thanks for that piece of info. :facepunch: :call_me_hand:

This is not a real thing. The typical auto will grow 4-5 weeks and then start transitioning into flower and flower for 8-9 weeks. People that grow them all the time will spend 100+ days growing autos. While some mature early and flower quickly that’s not really the norm. If you take a photoperiod plant on veg schedule for 4 weeks and move to 12/12 will put you on a nearly identical timeline.

Now if you’re not regulated by plant count and only worried about square footage you can take a large amount of clones that are already mature enough to flower and fill a space in shorter amount of time and have no seed cost. This reduces up front cost and shortens overall amount of time that takes to get to harvest. If you wipe out veg time (or time to grow to maturity so plants will flower) you can run about 2 additional grows per year, which should put you at about 40% more weed.

Having unlimited resources to do something strictly with the intention of creating the highest profit margin isn’t the world most of us live in. So instead, you see a lot more people trying to manage 1 small space to the best of their ability or knowledge. But there’s all kinds of angles to work that just require a good understanding of how the plants behave to take advantage of.

Weekly update! Shes getting chunky around her midsection haha, still making new calyx on smaller branches off of the stalk and bigger branches, and the buds are all getting bigger, i see some of the pistols on the older buds are turning to an amber color. Which i think is fine, its when the trichomes change color that the buds are ready right?

@Charlomack my eyes are not the best but do you have some PM issue going on. Looks like eye see some white spots on some leaves!

There are spots on some of the bottom leaves, theyve been there for a few weeks, havent gotten worse or shown up on any other leaves, im notbsure what PM is, i thought it might be insects so i bought some capt jacks to spray on her

Powdery mildew! It’s very common. Pure crop 1, lost coast plant therapy, Dr zymes all 3 will kill your pest and pm and mildew.

Ok ive been researching and i feel sure enough to say its not on her. Thanks for that though its good to know what to look for. Don’t hesitate to chime in whenever you see something, as you could see i had no idea about that potential danger until you said it :slightly_smiling_face:
