First time using coco

Hello everyone! Been a member for a little while now but this is the first time posting. I’m attempting my first grow and there are questions I have that I’m having trouble finding answers to. So many different answers. Let me start by saying that the day cannabis was legal to grow in your home, I took on this hobby with a family member. I put all my trust in this person to do the necessary research as I work a lot and lack the time but then could be shown what to do as he learned. However… Plants keep having issues. I am starting to think his research was very little. I am now taking over. He is using coconut husk and perlite, 50/50 mix. I wanted to go organic but he insisted this was better. The plants have been in the tent for 2 months in 7 gallon fabric pots. He has been watering once a week and letting them get bone dry, then drenching them with a gallon each. Sometimes with nutrients, sometimes just ph’d water. Some are getting yellow tips, some are getting holes and cracking and tearing. Very few spots. But he’s telling me hes not too worried and we will see what happens. Which is why I want to step in. They were watered last tuesday. From my research, with this medium, some say to water every day, with nutes every day, some say every few days, some say every other watering use nutes, some say half nutes. Which is it? Even the notes that he has taken down for himself has conflicting info about it. I just want to give these girls what they should be getting. :frowning: Any advice is very appreciated.

First off I would fill out the support ticket so others can help you work through it.

I would recommend creating a log to keep track of water, nutes, etc. as well as how your plants react to it. That will help you to develop a system. How you water, what nutes you give and how much depends on a bunch of factors like plant strain, heat, humidity, etc. There is no clean cut, black and white answer. I think you just asked the golden question! Your plants will tell you when they are hungry and thirsty. For example, My plants have also started tearing with leaf tips pointing down. That’s my plant telling me it’s getting too much nitrogen. I however know nothing about coco or your grow so best to fill out the ticket.
