Oh dear, how cold was it last night. Looks like it has had a right hard shift. Bring it in, put it on a decent sized saucer, water it, cut the screw cap end off a big clear plastic bottle and cover the plant completely (like a mini greenhouse). This will raise the humidity right up in there and allow the leaves to take in moisture. A clear plastic bag will do the same job just place it over the plant and over the top lip of the pot. Securing it with a rubber band. Put it on a sunny window ledge or a warm radiator. Doing this might save it, I’ve had plants recover and some die this way. It’s like a plant ICU. Mould will be an issue now though so keep an eye on her. Now, like bubblehead said it’s red pill or blue time. There’s a lot of top notch info up there and to keep up with what’s going on in the soil you’re going to need to measure what’s happening. You can’t guess, I’ve invested around $1000 so far with tents, instruments etc and just ordered 2 lights at around $700. Which is nothing compared to the kit some of these guys have

Hello, and welcome. I am also new and growing in a greenhouse and so far doing well. You will find excellent help here, everyone has been very kind answering my newbie questions I am also using Happy Frog/Ocean Forest 50/50 in my 5 Gallon pots. I filled the bottom half with OF and top half with HF. My rationale was to allow the roots to grow into the hotter soil. I transplanted back in early March and I have yet to feed any of them, that is how full on nutrients those two soils are. Here is a link to my grow journal and read what all these folks have posted while keeping me from destroying the “girls”. Some good pictures too.
@jetlag wow that is a super nice set up. Looks super cool.
Thanks for the input on soil. You dont use perlite at all?
Ok I did the ICU for my plant. I am going to order 3 white widow seeds and plant them ASAP. I have my soil, ffof and happy frog. And some perlite. Still working out how to mix in the perlite. Also I have some raised garden beds in my yard that we built. I’m wondering if putting a hoop house with hinges on it will work.
Here is the link to it on YouTube.
Will this work ok? The box is 8ft x 4ft x 12 in tall.
@Davyg
I have not yet, but it seems to be very popular. Mine are in grow bags that seem to drain very well
My WW plants you saw are over 5’ tall already and growing, lol. The WW Autos are about 31/2 feet tall. keep that in mind unless you are planning to train the plants, and that will open another can of worms for you. I am just reading on it because I need to control their size a little. It is almost too late. Remember that wonderful soil you have will make them grow as on steroids, so you won’t need to feed for weeks.
I was looking at those hinged lids for my raised bed. Have a look at autos they grow for a fixed term whereas photos will need manipulated with regards to lighting. These plants will grow to 2 or 3 feet easily in no time at all so your hoop house lid at 12 inches tall will very quickly prove to be too small. Similar idea only taller would work. Are you aware of the 3 main types of seed, regular, auto and feminised
What I meant is the raised beds are 12 in tall the hoop is much taller, exactly like the video I posted. What I’m looking at to buy is white widow auto flower. Will that fit within the hoop? @Davyg
Did u get the auto flower ww? @jetlag
Is there a better option for soil?
I’ve just watched the video. I’m building this for sure. Yep your WW auto will fit no problem. You will probably need to do a bit of LST but that’s another adventure for further down the road. Its starting to turn into a workable solution now
. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together. Keep an eye out for mould in ICU as well
From the picture? That’s for my tomatoes right there I’m using miracle grow veggie. I have ffof and happy frog for the bud plants. the miracle gro is just what’s in my yard at the moment. I’ve got 3 tomato plants and some succulents and some lavender at the moment lol. @Covertgrower
I was a bit quick there as well.![]()

What is LST
@Davyg
No no the Miracle gro is for my tomatoes right there
@Davyg
Low stress training. There’s a heap of info in here about it. It’s a bit like Bonsai, you manipulate your plants shape to get the max yield using soft wire ties
@Davyg oh boy bonsais are so cool I have a book on bonsai making from Japan. This is intriguing…man I am so thrilled to get started now. Thank you so much for all the help. Seems I’ve got a good start. I’m gna order the seeds and start on the hoop house ASAP.
Good luck, I will keep lurking and if you need just yell. You have a heap of catching up to do now though. LST, nutrition and and and and. Theres heaps to learn good luck and happy growing ![]()

You can see now why growing is so addictive ![]()
