@dbrn32 @TheShortAnswer hey guys, so I’m thinking about just going with the light you guys prefer. I have a designated spot picked out inside. Should I go with the ballast lighting that @TheShortAnswer suggested?
That meter is worthless. You really need to purchase a digital PH and TDS meter.
You said ‘soil’. What exactly is the soil you are using?
A small t5 fixture like that is excellent for starting seeds and early veg. Make sure to get it with colder cct just the same.
I’m about to make a trip to home depot, I’ll see if they have some available. Heres the soil I’m using.
If you can; I would use something better designed for cannabis and here’s the reason: most soils are buffered at a different PH from weed so nutrients become unavailable as the PH drifts down. AND, to make it even more fun it does this in mid flower and plays havoc with the plants.
Scott’s Black Magic is carried in HD. Fox Farms Happy Frog, Roots Organics does one and there are some regional soils that work as well but you’ll have to do research on them.
Thanks so much for the response @Myfriendis410. So once I’m ready to transplant would it be possible to switch to the soil at that point? I’ll check for the scotts black when i head down there in a bit.
That’s the time. Before you go; look up Scott’s website because IIRC they used to have the same product packaged differently and about $3/bag cheaper.
Cannabis and tomatoes are similar in their requirements but stay away from anything that says: ‘Needs no fertilizer for 3 months!’ or ‘Moisture Control’.
Going outdoors then this is a good choice, if growing indoor then I think there are other choices to consider. Sorry I can’t help with that.
Yeah; I don’t know. It’s all a Miracle Gro subsidiary and they may have discontinued the Scott’s line in favor of pushing the Black Magic line. Not sure if your state carries it.
So I’ll just look for the black magic when I go in a bit. @TheShortAnswer what bulbs should I get with that ballast?
Also, do you have a secondary option just in case they dont have the black magic? Again, I really appreciate the help
I don’t really: I’m more of a media grower.
@Mrcrabs @merlin44 @Skydiver @MidwestGuy any help for Tucci?
If those are the only available choices I would pick the one that doesn’t say “time release,” “slow-release,” “feeds for x months,” or “moisture control.”
I would probably have time to order? I’m a week in as of today. Would that be a better idea? Thanks for the input
Other soils? A Fox Farm product. Roots Organics. Black Magic. All are good soils for cannabis.
Of course home depot closed at 6, so I didnt make it. I was able to stop at a local place that didnt have the 5000 the right lights, so I’ll be heading back to home depot tomorrow. I did pick these up. Are these usable just for tonight and some of tomorrow?
Sure. Wouldn’t want to use them long term though.
Raised bed soil is usually pretty “thick” for use in pots. Outside in raised beds is how it was designed to work best.
General groups are “Garden Soil” “raised bed soil” “potting soil” if in pots use potting soil.
Look at Ace Hardware they have some offerings that are organic like Whitney Farms potting soil.
Miracle Grow is the same company that brings us round up and most toxic things killing us and the environment every day. Monsanto sucks and I moving forward won’t buy their products.
Many better options as a base soil for growing cannabis.
