How high is your light they appear to be growing toward the light.
Both are set at the recommended
They’re both set at the 24 inch recommended height but I was around 60% instead of the 75% max. Just odd because they’re positioned right above both plants
Id get rid of the straw. Cannabis soil should have wet/dry cycles for good root health.
The plant should only be getting a few ml of water per day.
I was under the impression that living soil needed a mulch layer to prevent the top from overdrying.
There is pumice and perlite in there and about 20 worms in the smaller one and about 50 in the large. Also have a nice bit of mycelium growing inside at the moment so figured all of that would greatly increase the airflow in the soil.
I was curious about the straw. I’ve seen that before but didn’t understand the benefit. Lots of different grow methods out there. I believe you should just watch them they should straighten up and head toward the light pretty soon. Good luck and keep the site posted with how your grow is going. I grow hydroponic style and my system waters for 30 minutes every 4 hours. I made the decision to grow by this method because of the convenience of watering, and in soil seems like I was always battling pest. I also grow mainly autos and they grow much bigger and faster than in soil and my yield has almost tripled.
The are Apple Fritter autos, theyre about 4 days old from germination. The one with the seed still intact was having a rough start even breaking the surface so i was surprised that it made a recovery like it did. I guess patience is key becuase even if it is overwatering theres not much i can do now
first time grower who became a victim to too much information lol
Short answer yes. Pullthe straw back a little more and let the soil dry out a little.
Thank you
Isn’t airflow a big thing for the plant? Do you have to open the dome ever?
IMO . Yes it needs to breath. I would not dome until some of the miosture in that doil is gone. To help with that put a fan blowing on the top of bag if in fabric pot. Not to strong of wind directly on the plant.
Thank you that’s a great idea, just did because it’s taking a while for it to dry.
With seedlings, you dont want to retain moisture. Seedlings get their moisture from the air, not the soil. The seedling stage is very delicate meaning that it sets the standard for her/his whole life cycle. As mentioned above, remove the straw. The only time you want straw is when your plants are consuming water faster than you can replenish or in extreme heat cases. Just like you, you need oxygen to breathe and so does your soil. Cannabis prefers a dryer soil, not an overly wet soil. Your plants will tell you when they are getting a little thirsty. In veg in 5 gal pots, i might water once a week. I water slowly (over a 30 min period) to allow the soil to soak up as much as possible. When you do this, lift your container and notice how heavy it is. Now you know when she is full to the brim. Now allow your plant to nearly dry out. ( trust me, youll freak out the first time but dont) she will be very droopy. Now pick up your pot and notice how light it is. Muscle memory. Now water her and wait a few hours and she will look as good as new. Next just watch your girls and when her leaves start to droop a little, pick up the pot and see how heavy it is. Youll know if she needs watering. Also every other watering, add a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses per gallon of water to feed your soldiers in the soil.
Also keep in mind that following the above watering practices will also help with keeping fungus gnats at bay. Fungus gnats lay their eggs in the first inch or so of moist soil. Allowing it to dry out inhibits the development of the eggs controlling your fungus gnats.
Remember that organics is slow BUT its the most forgiving. Problems dont go away overnight and it takes a few days for improvements to really show.
I started off in solo cups and then someone mentioned that they shouldn’t really be transplanted. So I formed the cup in the soil and carefully cut along the side of the cup and took off entire bottom for stress free transplant. I’ve only been watering around it and the pot but I see it must’ve absorbed the moisture from the pot. It does seem to be at a stand still in terms of growth. Hoping a day or two of direct air from light wind will help like you said. I guess I can always just add the straw back once things are looking like I’m moving in right direction again
I transplant when they get their first or second set of true leaves.
Here is this past Saturday
I make an impression of the cup in the soil. Ill “palm” the top of the cup with my fingers supporting the seedling between my fingers. With the other hand, gently squeeze the sides of the cup while pulling up slightly. You might lose a little soil but dont freak out. Then just flip into the hole in your container gently and cover with soil. Mound up around the stem for support so they are standing up. Remember a less stressed baby is a happy baby!
If you want an easy transplant, split clear solo cup down sides when removing just pull apart and remove and plant i to the soil.
I leave the dome in till the leaves toutch sides of dome. Transplant when roots show good grouth and health.
No, not at this point. The girl gets almost all moisture thru the air at this point, hardly any root growth at this point.
