First time grow in coco. Wondering about fertilizer?

Hello, I am a few weeks into my first grow. I went with white widow Autoflower. I know I’ve already made a few mistakes. One being the coco coir. I mixed it with a couple handfuls of bat guano and about 70/30 perlite. Realizing coco has very little nutrients i would have gone with happy frog or foxfarms. But I’m all in at this point. I figured I would go as easy as possible first time around. I would fertalize with fox farms grow big through veg, and tiger bloom come flower. I have fed the fox farms once so far. Half the recommended dose as recommended by someone that read an early post of mine. But I recently purchased sensi grow because they make a 2 step fertilizer for coco growers. Im wondering can I feed both the sensi grow and the fox farms maybe every other feeding? Also sensi farm recommends that I mix a new reservoir daily for coco? For one I feel like that is too much fertilizer and for 2 too much water. I have been trying to dry out between watering? Any suggestions? Should I just pick one or the other?

You wanna water daily with coco don’t let it get dry.

Personally I wouldn’t use both nutes id just stick to one

No kidding huh? I’ve read most new growers biggest mistake is overwatering. Even if its still good and wet? The last time I waited at least 4 days… should I be saturating it?

Just water until you get a little bit of runoff everyday at least that’s what I did and here I am now this is also my first grow in coco

Hey! Sill a newbie and I only grow in soil. I believe Coca needs to stay moist? Perlite is inert, I think, and I am not sure if it holds water or if its purpose to is loosen the soil to allow more air to the roots. I think bat guano is a source of nitrogen? Sorry I am not of much help.

I think the overwatering problem is usually growers in soil.

Best to you and I hope there is a great harvest in your future!

For the first few weeks of the grow you can get away with watering every other day that’s what I did but when they get to about 30 days I’d make sure you water everyday. And yeah overwatering usually tends to happen in soil very hard to do in coco unless your drowning them lol

IMO use the Sensi Grow and don’t touch the Fox Farms liquids. They’re … good for size comparison photos, I guess.

That’s what I use mine for, anyway.

The Sensi A&B will do you better and cause fewer issues overall.

Wow! Ok I’m sold! Those are beautiful! When you say run off you mean just enough so water starts to come out of the bottom of the pot so a pretty good saturation daily then?

Yeah! Ok that’s good enough for me haha. Nicely done! And are you giving the recommended daily doses? Or are you cutting it down some? I’ve heard the recommendations on most are too much?

Yeah don’t have a tray of water sitting under ur plants that will cause other problems but about 1 cm of runoff is what I do

Sorry to say that is a no no in coco. If coco is allowed to dry out too much it becomes hydrophobic. It ends up repelling water rather than absorbing it.
Do you have Advanced Nutrients Sensi Coco Grow A & B? or Sensi Grow A & B.

This I think.

From above.

I’ve not used the Sensi products before but I’m a PPM watcher not a dose watcher. I feed target PPMs depending on stage of growth (between 600-1500, 1500 being for mid to late flower). Maybe others have used em before and can chime in though.

I used AN Iguana organic series when I used soil. Now growing in coco and using Jack’s. Coco is a great medium. AN makes very good nutrients and Sensi Coco is a good choice. I used the Growers Recipes rather than the basic feed schedule. Here is the corresponding Grower recipe for sensi coco

Mother Earth Tea is a nicely balanced fertilizer. If I am top feeding I still use it. Voodoo juice is the AN’s bacteria rootzone enhancer. I also use in either top feeding or in autopots. Not familiar with B-52. I have never used it but I know AN growers use and recommend it.
While your auto is in veg I would recommend using the Sensi Coco A&B. If you don’t plan on continuing to use AN then don’t worry about the other products. It gets expensive in a hurry.
I also used FF Trio for quite a while. Recommend AN hands down. But you have it so follow the flower feed chart when it is time. I don’t know what kind of adjustments if any need to made to the schedule when growing in coco.

Hi guys janeQP ur right coco does need to be moist thats why you have to water every day or every second day ,most of yous have seen my grow i grow in coco coir and i use all natural organic nutrients ,but in the case of this person i would pick one type of bottled nutrients or keep goin with the bat guano and add dry amendments from down to earth

It goes to show that not everyone is right

LOL. I never say anyone is right or wrong. This earth has been growing plants for millions of years without human meddling! I find what works for me and also keep a very wide open mind.
